From The Pastor's Desk:
We at Lord of Life are a generous people. In worship I have been saying “thank you” for that generosity and telling the stories of the fruitfulness it produces. Over the past weeks I have reminded the congregation of the many ministries that carry God’s grace to our members and our community. Giving of our time and efforts makes possible Confirmation classes, Children’s Church (think Sunday School), Bible studies, ministry to folks in times of loss like our funeral ministry, making and delivering sandwiches to the Christian Caring Center, collecting items for our Bridge of Peace partners, and much more than I can possibly list here. All this takes the passion, energy, and time of many members to make it real. It all begins here, it all begins with faith.
Faith is what makes us aware of God’s abundance of blessings in our own lives. Faith is what opens our eyes to our own need to support these and other valuable ministries at Lord of Life, and to be true to God’s calling for us. Faith lifts our hearts and makes us generous as we serve, and as we give financially.
So, thank you for your generosity, and your faithfulness!
Worship is the starting place. It’s the “cradle” where faith is nurtured and strengthened. Worship is that time when we intentionally place ourselves, collectively, in God’s presence – to encounter the Holy One. We gather to experience forgiveness, and to also forgive. We gather to allow the Word of God to penetrate our souls, and to be changed, lifted up, and renewed. We gather to encounter God in a tangible way as our spiritual hunger and thirst are satisfied by Jesus – and we are joined with Him in Holy Communion. Christ within us, that we may reflect Christ to the world. We need to gather, to worship, to be restored in spirit, and to be sent out to serve. If you have not been in worship lately, I invite you to return. Together we are God’s people!
All this happens because many serve in many ways. It happens because we make it all possible with our gifts, given first to us by our generous God. It is why I give, and I believe it’s why you give as well.
My heart is grateful for God’s abundance that fills our life as a congregation, and for you too! I am thankful for the generosity of so many people in so many ways that enables Lord of Life Lutheran Church, you and I, to be God’s people in our community and in the world!
We are Lord of Life! Joyfully reaching out in love as God’s people! Thanks be to God!
Joyfully serving with you,
Pastor Barry Scott

Project LOL:
Air Conditioner Replacement Update
A Message From:
Church Council President, Bill Reich
In the summer of 2024, we as a congregation took on the challenge of
gathering funds to replace the air conditioners in the church. We set a goal of $50,000 to be raised by July 2025. I am pleased to share with you that we have exceeded our goal as of 5/15/25. Any funds that we receive above and beyond what we need to get the identified air conditioners replaced will be saved for when the air conditioners in the Faith Development Center (FDC) need to be replaced. (These FDC units are now over 20 years old!)
We are working with our vendors on a near-weekly basis to determine a date when the replacement work will begin.
THANK YOU to all of you who contributed to this successful campaign!

Lord Of Life Quilt Ministry:
Search For Material
Is On!
Our quilters have been busy sewing quilt squares together to make quilts, but they are running out of cloth to cut into quilt squares.
If anyone has scrap or unwanted pieces of cloth, please consider donating them to our Quilt Ministry. Any color or pattern is welcome. The cloth material must be larger than 11 inches by 11 inches and the type of material that would be appropriate for making into a quilt (cotton or cotton-polyester).
Backings for our quilts are also in need. Bed sheets of any size, both gently used or new work best for making our quilts.
If you have any questions, please contact Gloria Brosious. Thank you in advance for your donations!

A Note From Sue Dreisbach:
SOCIAL MINISTRY THANKS YOU!
We want to thank you for providing this place, this community of caring people who support our ministry, who give of your time, talents, and treasures to be the caring family who wants to make life better for our neighbors. You Provide Hope!
Through your Lenten gifts we are able to share $2,570 with the Hope Alive! Solace Nutrition Site and the Christian Caring Center was able to raise over $2,000 through their recent jewelry sale for their Eden Village Tiny Homes Project.
You have provided HOPE.
Your gifts will go far beyond the immediate needs that will be met. Who knows what those babies whose lives you have helped to save or those people who will eventually know a safe and stable roof over their heads will do to make life better for their neighbors, too.
You Provide Hope!
You and this family we call Lord of Life are…God’s love in action! Thank you!
Sue

View The Church Directory

Please take a look at your listing in the directory. Did you notice that your photo or your family photo is missing or out of date? If so, you can send the church an updated photo that will be placed into this directory by sending an email to photos@lordlife.us containing the attachment of your photo. Remember that we are more interested in seeing your faces rather than beautiful background scenes!

Tabernacle Memorial Day Parade
Saturday, May 24th
Lord of Life was well represented at the Memorial Day parade and ceremony. Lu and Ed Hourihan had our LOL banner displayed for all to see as their decorated truck rolled down the parade route. Pastor Barry delivered the invocation at the start of the ceremony by Town Hall. Bill Dreisbach and Jack Gordon were part of the CERT Team support crew. Carolyn and Jim Cuviello both helped with parade and ceremony planning. Carolyn was also in the line of march as part of the Tabernacle Woman's Association. Jim helped organize the parade participants at the start point and then helped out with the wreath laying tribute to our fallen heros.
| | | |
Pastor's Memorial Day Ceremony Invocation:
While the Memorial Day weekend has become the unofficial start of summer for many communities, most service members, veterans, military families, and many citizens observe this day with mourning and remembrance. Many veterans and their families have lost friends and loved ones in military service and feel duty bound to honor all who have died while wearing the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. On this Memorial Day weekend we are called to remember, to honor the service of the fallen – their lives and sacrifice – to give God thanks for them, and for the freedom and life we enjoy as a result. We look for that day when the words of scripture, written in Revelation 21 will be fulfilled, “God will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passes away.”
Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the members of our armed forces past and present, and especially those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide the leaders of our country and military and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Isn't It Still May?
Yes, it is still May, but we wanted all to have our June 1st LifeLines arrive a little early. There are many wonderful events happening on Sunday, June 1st at our church, and we did not want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to join us. The church choir will sing the spiritual, Amen, during June 8th Sunday's church service. The song has roots as an African American Spiritual, but the version common to most of us today, is a mid-20th century arrangement attributed to Jester Hairston. The first time the Editor remembers hearing this song was in the winter of 1964-1965 when there was a version done by The Impressions. It was #43 on the Billboard Hit Parade during the week ending December 5, 1964 and rose to #7 during the week ending January 9, 1965. The song became well known when it was used in the 1963 movie, Lilies of the Field. Enjoy!
