Teams Forming
For 2024, we are looking to increase the number of Coffee Hour Team Hosts as well as increasing the number of members of existing teams. The primary job of the team is to bring treats (cookies, cakes, etc.) that will be served during Coffee Hour. You will not need to set up the room or make the coffee. Remaining after Coffee Hour to help clean up is welcomed but not required. If you would like to join this ministry, please contact Carolyn Cuviello. A link to her email is below.

From The Pastor's Desk:
Dear Friends,
In this season of Lent we have explored how we might find Hope for the Lenten journey, and how we might find Seeds of Joy to sustain us in the future. As our LifeLines reaches you, please know that much of Lent yet lies ahead of us. There are still many opportunities to join in times of growing in faith, and the joy of fellowship with others. We will continue our study called, “Surprised By Hope,” on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM at the church, and Thursdays at 7:00 PM on Zoom (Let me know if you need the info to join remotely!). Each session stands alone, and you can join any one of them or all. Wednesdays at 5:30 PM we have a soup supper and dessert followed by a short devotional worship time at church.
I particularly want to invite you to Holy Week, those weekdays we commemorate and remember the final days of Jesus’ life before the Resurrection of Easter morning. Wednesday, March 27th, we will hold a Healing Service at 7:00 PM to offer God’s presence in whatever brokenness is in our lives. The following day we will have our Maundy Thursday service, on March 28th at 7:00 PM, as we remember Jesus’ command to “Do this” and to “Serve one another.” On Good Friday, March 29th, we offer worship at noon, a Children’s Service at 3:00 PM, and Worship at 7:00 PM, as we follow Jesus to the cross. Easter Vigil is on Saturday evening, March 30th, at 5:00 PM.
All these are opportunities to follow Jesus more closely, grow deeper in faith, and be part of your church family. I look forward to being with you in the days and weeks ahead, and into the brightness of Easter! Blessings to you!

Bible Study During Lent
Two Sessions Available:
Wednesday Mornings,
At 10:00 AM, In Person At Church
And
Thursday Evenings,
At 7:00 PM, On Zoom
Our Lenten Study is Surprised by Hope by N. T. Wright. Pastor Barry will lead the study Wednesday mornings at the church at 10:00 AM and Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM on Zoom. The program will run through March 21st. Here is a description:
Many Christians believe that our future in heaven is all that really matters. But that's not what the Bible teaches. Premier Bible scholar N. T. Wright takes you inside the Scriptures to grasp the full, breathtaking hope Jesus offers the world, and its implications for how we live our lives today as believers.
In these faith-inspiring sessions, premier biblical scholar N. T. Wright opens your eyes to the amazing full scope of what God's Word has to say about the world to come and the world that is.
Filled with discussion questions, thoughts for reflection, and ideas for personal application, this study guide will help you get the most out of each session.

The 13th Tale
By Diane Setterfield
The Thirteenth Tale is a gothic novel by Diane Setterfield published in 2006. In this story, bookseller and biographer
Margaret Lea is summoned by reclusive, famous, and terminally ill author, Vida Winter, to record the true tale of her life.
The Thirteenth Tale is a love letter to reading, a return to
that rich vein of storytelling that our parents loved and that
we loved as children. Diane Setterfield will keep you
guessing, make you wonder, move you to tears and
laughter, and, in the end, deposit you breathless, yet
satisfied, back upon the shore of your everyday life.

Help Wanted:
We Need Your Suggestions!
The Discipleship, Evangelism, and Communications Committee (DECC) would like to hear your ideas and suggestions for possible activities at Lord of Life. We have created four poster boards representing the four seasons and invite you to suggest events or activities throughout the year. You can draw from past and present activities or events at LOL or recommend ideas from other congregations where you were a member or churches you visited. The poster boards are in the far-right corner of the Fellowship Hall. Sticky notes are available so you can share your ideas and place them on the season that seems like the best fit. The boards will be available through March 31, 2024. The DECC will gather ideas for consideration of future LOL activities or events. You might include your name so a committee member can follow up with you for more information. You can also share your thoughts with any DECC member (Tammy Miller, Lu Hourihan, Breanne Tomlinson, Jim Cuviello, Cassie and Ted Hussey, Bill Reich, or Cynthia Tait).

(Sandwiches For The Christian Caring Center)
Helping Hands is a monthly ministry to make sandwiches for the homeless served by Christian Caring Center. It meets the last Wednesday of each month. We form an assembly line and make about 200 sandwiches in an hour. Jobs are easy – putting meat and cheese on a roll, placing sandwiches in a baggie, counting the sandwiches, and putting them in a grocery bag. Everyone gets a small, easy task and a lot gets done quickly while we share some time together. We keep everyone safe by wearing gloves and masks, spacing ourselves, and venting the room. All are invited to join us! If you have any questions, please contact Sue Dreisbach. A link to her email is below.

Update From Haiti
A Message From Penny Miller
Daily life in Haiti remains dangerous, violent, and often deadly. Gangs continue to infiltrate the island’s businesses, government agencies, and the police force. Going to the market daily for food is not a simple task. All prices are
inflated, and gasoline is $35.00 a gallon if you can get it. The students attending the sewing academy are faced with the same dilemma. Their classes are so important to them, and they make every effort to attend. However, they must stay home when the danger level is too high.
I continue to stay in touch with Libertin, the school administrator. He reports that when the students come to class, they are happy and do well. We still have 12 students who attend every week. He has reported to me that the students need sewing notions: items like needles, thimbles, seam rippers, small scissors, thread, etc. If you would like to help provide these items, please bring them to the church. Place your donation in a bag with my name on it, bring it to the church kitchen, and deposit it into the box labeled "Penny Miller - Haiti Sewing Notions." We will be shipping things to Haiti soon.
The people of Haiti are warm and loving. They want to live in peace and provide for their families. Please keep them in your prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Penny Miller

MORE Athletic Shoe Collection
MORE stands for Modular Organic Regenerative Environments. The group is 100% funded by recycling athletic shoes, keeping them out of landfills. Donated shoes are sold to participating vendors in developing countries. Proceeds regenerate forests and jump start small farming co-ops in needy regions. This creates retail jobs while stimulating free enterprise. MORE provides basic supplies, tools, seeds (fruit-bearing mango, papaya, avocado and income producing mahogany), and agroforestry training to poor farming families, school children and rural villages.
You can contribute your used sneakers or athletic shoes by placing them in the collection box located in the church entryway. Please sneaker-type used footwear only, no dress or other shoes.

Church Financial Records Audit
Volunteers Needed!
There is a requirement that the financial records of Lord of Life be audited on an annual basis. Church building closures and isolation during Covid disrupted our normal process to do this, and now we are ready to begin again. Church members can be involved in much of the work that is needed to be done. You do not need any experience in accounting for a good deal of what is needed to be done. The time consuming part is matching cancelled checks to receipts that generated the check to be written. Any church member would be able to do this. (Even our Tellers are eligible to do this part.)
We are hoping to begin the audit during the month of March 2024 and are planning to have sessions on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. Session times would be either at 3:00 PM or at 6:30 PM. We will need several sessions and volunteers do not have to participate at all of them. Even being at one session would be a great help.
If you would be able to help with the audit, please contact Ed Hourihan. Let him know what day and time works best for you. A link to his email is below.
