Coffee Hour Fellowship

Every Sunday

Join us for Coffee Hour every Sunday following the 9:30 AM service. Be with us in Fellowship Hall to socialize, catch up with church friends, enjoy some treats, and, of course, sip our "heavenly" coffee!

From The Pastor's Desk:

Lent is a time of deeper spiritual reflection, and of turning to follow Jesus more closely as disciples. As you read this, we have already begun this journey. Every journey is marked by signposts marking important places along the way. Our Lenten journey is the same, marked by the spiritual gifts St. Paul calls “fruits of the Spirit”.

Such fruits are gifts given to every believer to be used in our lives through our faith. Paul lists nine fruits, and during Lent we will look at six. They are: Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Generosity, and Faithfulness. He reminds us there is no law against these things. Indeed, these gifts are given to us so that we may fulfill his command to love God, and to love others. These bring the greatest joy and meaning in life!

I invite you into a deeper connection with Jesus, and with our church family this Lent. Let’s worship together, serve together, be the church together. As we live and grow in faith, may we be strengthened to always be “Joyfully reaching out in love as God’s people!” That’s us! Lord of Life Lutheran Church!

Blessing to you!

Pastor Barry

Social Ministry Lenten Outreach Project:

Operation:

“What You Can’t Buy”

Ending Sunday, April 12th

We know you can’t buy love, but we certainly know that we can love our neighbors by buying things that are needed. Did you know that SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food benefits do not cover household items and personal care products? During Lent we are focusing on helping the Christian Caring Center stock their shelves to provide these items for our neighbors in need. Here’s what you can buy and share your love during this special time of sacrificial giving:

Cleaning supplies, Lysol, laundry supplies, bleach (not huge sizes)

Hygiene & feminine hygiene products, Depends, toilet paper (large & small sizes)

Laundry sheets and pods are good as they are easier to transport to a laundromat (not too large sized liquid bottles)

Items can be left in the labeled container, shown in the photo below, in the church entryway. Thanks to all in advance for your generosity!

If you have any questions, please contact Sue Dreisbach.

Fellowship Hall HVAC:

New Fellowship Hall Heating Procedures

When changing the thermostat setting in Fellowship Hall to the higher "occupied" setting, you probably have noticed that the room is slow to warm up. Property Ministry head, Craig Baechler, has consulted with our HVAC company and is trying out a new procedure which should speed up the change of the room's temperature.

After you increase the temperature setting on the thermostat, turn on the ceiling fans. They have been set to send the warmer air in the ceiling downward which helps to distribute the newly heated air entering the room. We have also changed the fan setting on the air handler. When leaving Fellowship Hall after using it, lower the temperature setting on the thermostat to 62 degrees and turn off the ceiling fans. Do not change any other settings.

Fallen Tree Cleared:

Winter Storm Hernando brought snow and wind to our area and claimed one of the trees on the boarder of our parking lot near the shed. The fallen tree blocked part of the parking area driving lane. Thanks to church member Daniel Millere who removed the fallen tree from the driving lane and to Keith Lerner for his assitance to get this done.

Fellow Congregants:

Your Call Committee has been active this month.

We reviewed the Rostered Minister Profile (RMP) that we received last month from Synod, and invited the candidate for an interview with the full committee.

We had an informative interview and learned more about the qualifications and experience of the candidate, and whether the candidate could be a good fit for the leadership position at Lord of Life.

After the interview, we once again convened as a committee to discuss what we had learned from the interview. We all considered this person to possibly be the leader we are looking for, and decided to invite the candidate for another interview.

The invitation has been extended to the candidate, and we are now arranging the date and place of the interview.

We thank you for your continued prayers, and we are confident that the Holy Spirit will guide us in our search for our next congregational leader.

Peace,

Companionship, and Alliances.

Stepping-Stones

Ministry

March Health Focus:

Loneliness

Have you, or someone close to you, ever felt lonely, really lonely, and isolated? Loneliness has been labeled an epidemic in a Surgeon General Advisory, so you are definitely not alone. As we begin to thaw out after a particularly harsh and isolating winter, the Stepping-Stones to Health team is taking a deeper look at this challenging topic in March. Stop by the Focus on Health Table in the Fellowship Hall to explore ways that you can better manage loneliness for yourself or a loved one. Actually, being an active member of one or more of our group activities at Lord of Life and participating in worship are great places to start. To learn more, check out these links:

Continuing Your Contributions:

Your continuing financial support is essential to maintain the Ministries of Lord Of Life. Offerings are being collected at all church services. If you are still not attending services at our church building, your contribution can be mailed to the church (1 Winchester Court, Tabernacle, NJ 08088). Both Simply Giving and Tithe.ly remain in place for all to use.

You can also contribute to Lord of Life using your cell phone! Simply scan the QR code below with your cell phone, and you will be able to make a donation using Tithe.ly.

(More information about these electronic ways to contribute can be found on the church's website. The link is below.)

Tithe.ly Options

Using Tithe.ly on your cell phone has a new added feature. You are now able to pick a particular fund for your contribution to Lord of Life. The photo below shows the catagories of giving. We will update what appears on the list if a new catagory comes about or if one ends.
