From The Pastor's Desk:
CHANGE?!?!
What reaction do you have when you find yourself dealing with change? Of course, it depends on the nature and extent of such change, but I have experienced everything from excitement to dread, from anxiety to hope, from anticipation to fear.
When I was a child, our family moved frequently due to my father’s search for work. A new job for him meant a change of address, a change of school, along with a change of friends and everything familiar. Elementary school was in six different schools in four different states. I became adept at handling change and the disruption it caused, and, in hindsight, I can see many blessings that came with each move.
What changes have impacted you most significantly? What are your usual reactions to change? What is it that you fear about change?
As God’s baptized people, we are called to respect, love and trust God above all things. And so, when we find ourselves fearful of change, it is so very important to remember that our hope is not found in keeping things the same. Our hope is certain in the One who is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8), who redeems us, and calls us, and has who makes us new.
In a significant way, change is foundational to our life in Christ. Our baptism marks the reality that we are changed from what we once were and are now remade in the image of God. Luther’s Small Catechism reminds us that our baptism includes an invitation to allow God to continue changing us each day.
2 Corinthians 5:17 is a reminder of the gift we have in baptism. “So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!” (Common English Version, CEV)
Daily, the Holy Spirit changes us as we embrace, and then act upon God’s gift of grace. What good news do you hear as you reflect on the changes the Holy Spirit is enacting in your life as a baptized child of God? How does this free us to consider change in a new way?
What about change in the church? There is an old joke about change in the church, “How many Lutherans does it take to change a light bulb?” Answer: “Change?!?! Change?!?!”
The church’s future is not secured by keeping everything the way it once was, nor is it guaranteed in pursuing change simply for change’s sake. Traditions are wonderful and useful when they convey meaning and serve a purpose. But, new needs come into our life together, and we sometimes must make room for new purposes which bring new meanings. In this way, Jesus’ promise that the church would endure to the end of the age compels us to rely on his grace alone.
With such a sure and certain word that brings us forgiveness and life in Jesus’ name, we can confidently seek God’s will as we face all manner of changes around us, because our foundation is the unchanging certainty of God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Yours In Christ,
Pastor Barry

Fellow Congregants:
The Call Committee is continuing in its efforts to find a full-time pastor for Lord of Life. Recently we had a long, productive interview with an experienced candidate who we found to be smart, enthusiastic, and truly interested in a future with our congregation.
The conversation was pleasant and relaxed, and the candidate supplied thoughtful answers to our questions. In turn, the candidate asked us a number of questions, which we answered. Post-interview, we received several more questions from the candidate, which we are in process of answering. We will continue to dialog as we decide on our next steps.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as, lead by the Spirit, we may make wise and beneficial decisions for the future of Lord of Life and for our candidate.
Faithfully,
Judy Lerner

Project LOL:
Air Conditioning Campaign
To Continue
One Unit Still Needed!
Your generous donations to our Lord of Life air conditioning replacement campaign enabled us to have 3 new air conditioning units installed, but we still need to replace the 4th main building unit which is no longer working.
To do this, we are continuing the campaign in hope of receiving an additional $18,000 in donations prior to the summer of 2026.
An update on our air conditioner campaign is provided in video form from our church Council President, Bill Reich. All are encouraged to click on the link below and view it.

Electrical Systems:
Upgrades And Repairs Completed!
There were many light fixtures, ceiling fans, and a bathroom exhaust fan that needed repair or replacement. New light fixtures were installed throughout the church, and new ceiling fans, which were donated, were placed in Fellowship Hall. A second TV, which was donated for the Sanctuary rear wall projection, was installed. Our building now has working lights that are extremely efficient and are certainly much brighter than our broken and obsolete ones. Thanks to Keith Lerner for heading up this project and his coordination with the electrical contracting crew and scrap metal pick up.

Thank You Brian!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Brian Carns at Cornerstone Tree Service for generously donating his expertise, time, and equipment to take down a rotted tree in our Memorial Garden.

What Is A
Memorial Garden?
A small portion of our lovely church property at the end of the Meditation Walk, in the wooded area just past the southeast corner of the parking lot, has been set aside as a committal place for the cremains of deceased church members and those in their family. Significant changes in burial customs in which cremation has gained far wider acceptance, together with the high cost of funerals and cemetery plots, has led us to offer this alternative means of burial to our church family.
Here is the church policy regarding burial in our Memorial Garden:
“The Memorial Garden is for the use of church members, former church members, and their immediate families. A request for the use of the garden will be made through the Church Office, Pastor, or Judy Lerner, Chairperson of the Memorial Garden Committee.”
You can contact Judy Lerner with any questions you might have. Phone: 609-922-9630 or email: IAQQAS@gmail.com

Recycling:
Doin' It Right At Lord Of Life!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Lord of Life participates in Burlington County's recycling programs by having recycling containers in various locations inside and outside of our buildings. We also have a special plastic bag recycling container in Fellowship Hall.
We need everyone's help to "Do It Right At Lord Of Life" when it comes to what can be recycled and what is trash. Too often, things that CANNOT be recycled are placed in the recycling containers. A good amount of trash must be removed by one of our church members from our curbside recycling containers before they can be picked up by the County. This is not a pleasant task and takes up valuable time. We need everyone's help to make sure ONLY RECYCLABLES are put into the recycling containers.
A full description of the recycling program in our County can be found by clicking on this link: https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/345/Recycling

Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times
By Adam Hamilton
As the senior pastor of a large, diverse church in America’s heartland, Adam Hamilton has seen the cost of fear up close. When he surveyed his congregation on how fear affects them, 2,400 people responded, and what they said was eye-opening. Eighty percent admitted to living with moderate or significant levels of fear.
Unafraid is Hamilton’s insightful and impassioned response. Drawing on recent research, inspiring real-life examples, and fresh biblical insight, Hamilton uses a mixture of facts and faith to help readers understand and counter fears related to such outsize perils as death and illness, as well as the everyday anxieties all of us encounter. He invites us to:
Face our fears with a bias of hope
Examine our fears in light of the facts
Attack our anxieties with action
Release our cares to God

Ordinary Grace
by William Kent Krueger
This is a coming-of-age mystery about 13-year-old Frank Drum in 1961 Minnesota, who experiences a summer of multiple deaths, scandals, and human frailties that shatter his innocence and forces him to confront loss, secrets, and the meaning of faith. The novel explores themes of death, grief, the complexities of adult life, and the search for resilience and hope amidst tragedy, all under the guiding concept of "awful grace." a phrase meaning full of awe rather than "terrible," and representing God's grace as a profound, incomprehensible comfort in times of suffering.

If you are still not attending services at our church building, your contribution can be mailed to the church (1 Winchester Court, Tabernacle, NJ 08088). Both Simply Giving and Tithe.ly remain in place for all to use.
You can also contribute to Lord of Life using your cell phone! Simply scan the QR code below with your cell phone, and you will be able to make a donation using Tithe.ly.
