Lifting Up Those In Need
by Jim Toes
President & CEO, STA

A harsh reality within the financial services industry is that many of us will experience being let go from our job at least once over the course of our career. While this a risk we’re all aware of and accept upon entering this industry, more times than not a person is surprised and unprepared when it happens to them. The immediate need for moral support Day 1 is quickly overshadowed by the need for practical advice and opportunities Day 2 and beyond.

Providing this kind of assistance is something that STA believes in, therefore once again we’ve created a Complimentary Registration Package for our October 2022 Market Structure Conference. These limited amount of packages are available to professionals who are actively seeking re-employment in our industry. They include a complimentary registration, hotel accommodations and a travel voucher.

Networking events are important to everyone’s career development. For an individual who is seeking employment, however, it can mean the difference between getting that next job offer or not. Our industry is filled with good people who “lift up” others when they are down. So please take a moment to read more about these packages and share the information with those who might benefit from it.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about what you’ve done with those accomplishments. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”

Grassroots Giving Goes International
The grassroots nature of STA’s affiliate organizations is more than just political activism. It is also about the charitable work each and every affiliate does within its local community. Many of the charities are not well known outside of their immediate areas, which makes the support from the affiliates even more impactful. On Tuesday, June 28, STA New York Women in Finance will host a river walk and networking cocktails fundraiser to benefit Razom, a New York-based charity that provides aid on the ground in Ukraine.

STA Comments on SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s Remarks on Equity Market Structure Reform
“STA agrees with SEC Chair Gary Gensler that retail investors have greater access to the equity markets than ever before, and that technology continues to transform our equity markets, which today are highly competitive and serve a diverse set of market participants. We believe these developments have largely driven positive change, but recognize they also create the need to review and potentially enhance rules governing the current market structure."
