We joined our fellow Vermonters in
lighting up Vermont to give all essential workers a huge thank you during our fight against the coronavirus. Check out the
story WCAX did about this statewide-and-beyond effort.
Thanks to Robbie Towle, Joe Casella, Francis Clark, Jeremy Fowler and Dylan Kennedy who built and mounted our star to show our support for all the essential workers who are continuing their hard work during this pandemic - including everyone at Casella Construction!
Put up your stars and lights, and share your photos with us! We'd love to see them, and feature them in the newsletter. You can send them
here.
Thank you for all of your hard work! We will all get through this together.

Homework's Best Done Outside!
|
|
Dan's son, Ryan Caputo, age 7, a first grader at Rutland Town School is getting creative with his school work while at home. Ryan decided he could no longer do his homework inside and decided to get outside to read a book to his class - while staying safe and socially distancing. Ryan's classmates watched his video from their homes. Great idea, Ryan!

Ken Black Promoted to Operations Manager!
|
|
Ken Black, Transportation Operations Manager, received his red hard hat!
Ken Black was promoted to Operations Manager in our Transportation Division. Ken Started with us as a lowboy driver, 6 year ago tomorrow! Ken has played many key roles for us, most recently as dispatcher.
Ken has been trucking for nearly 40 years. His first job trucking was in 1979 for Guy Wilson. Wilson Trucking hauled all the groceries for Grand Union grocery stores. Fun fact: Wilson Trucking is the company that built our transportation location. “When I started with Guy, I had a 1970 Brockway with a 230 Cummins and a 10-speed road ranger, I thought I had a rocketship,” he said with a big smile, “a powerhouse I’ll tell ya.”
Great work, Ken, and CONGRATULATIONS!

Featured Project:
Clarendon Quarry
|
|
We have been busy this winter making numerous improvements to our Clarendon Quarry, led by
Led by Kelley Staples, Kyle Cornell and the Aggregate crew, along with the support of many other throughout the company during the off-season. It was great to see the Aggregate, Construction and Maintenance teams join forces this winter to make this project come together on such a short timeline in less-than-ideal conditions.
Some of the work being done includes the removal of old box trailers, construction of new access roads, general site grading, and preparation for a new underground power supply. We are also working on construction of a new secondary cone crusher, a sentimental block retaining wall, and various concrete pads. Check out some pictures of the progress below.
Thank you to all who supported this project over the winter. We are excited to continue to develop this facility and to execute our plan of diversifying our overall business.
Great job everyone!

COVID-19: Updated Procedures
|
|
In light of new data about how COVID-19 spreads, the CDC is now recommending that people wear a cloth face covering to cover their nose and mouth in community settings. This is to protect people around you if you are infected but do not have symptoms. As many as 25% of people with COVID-19 are carriers who do not have symptoms.
Following CDC recommendation, Casella Construction has implemented this procedure. Please click
here and read our cloth face coverings procedure in full, and review the information below on proper use and care for your face covering.
