On March 9th, at SXSW EDU, Ted Dintersmith and Sir Ken Robinson's family will officially launch the resource library that is WhatSchoolCouldBe.org, and the What School Could Be Community, which will bring educators around the world together under a welcoming tent of awesomeness and student-centered professional development. There is still time to sign up for SXSW, but if your schedule is full, keep an eye on the What School Could Be Facebook page and Twitter account. This is going to super fun and will impact kids for generations to come.

The Innovation Playlist: A Film Watch Party By Three Hawaiʻi State Teacher Fellows

Zach Morita, Denise Karratti and Michael Ida - all members of the 2020-2022 Hawai Hawaiʻi DOE State Teacher Fellows cohort - have organized a watch party to view the new film, The Innovation Playlist. A collaboration with Waianae Searider Productions and master filmmaker, John Allen III, this film chronicles small-step innovations happening at public schools on Kauaʻi, Molokaʻi and Oʻahu. The What School Could Be in Hawaiʻi Podcast Returns With Unrulr

For more than 100 years we have captured learning (we thought) at discreet moments along a student's journey using tests, papers and projects (mostly). For students this meant being graded on a series of finished products. But the real world, the 21st century's world increasingly wants to know about the process of learning and what evidence can be provided that demonstrates one's skills, habits and dispositions. The app, Unrulr, provides a way to capture learning whenever and wherever it happens. This episode is with Unrulr's founders, Will Reppun and Fred Delse.

Edutopia - The Learning We Need: A Case For Rigorous Project-Based Learning

Edutopia is one of the oldest student-centered learning organizations in the world. Celebrating 30 years, George Lucas's foundation is putting on a one-hour briefing on where we stand with regard to project-based learning and why we need to press ahead and give access to PBL to all kids. Over the past five years it has been my great joy to work along side my nephew, Dr. Evan Reppun Beachy, who works in the crucible that is the Kamehameha Schools Strategy and Transformation division.
