17 Preschool children at MNC Mission Campus were excited to receive a special package of books by Lil' Libros. The colorful covers and vibrant illustrations captured their attention and sparked their curiosity.
During small-group time, the teacher introduced the wordless picture book Paletas. Because the book does not contain written text, the children used their imagination, personal experiences, and language skills to tell the story. They eagerly shared their favorite kinds of paletas. One girl said, "Las paletas de fruta son healthy porque las frutas son healthy para comer."
After reading, the teacher invited the children to create their own paper paletas using construction paper. Each child chose a favorite flavor, and some decorated their paletas with creative toppings. One boy explained, "My paleta de limón tiene Tajín. I like Tajín."
Later, in the dramatic play area the children pretended to sell paletas to one another. Their imaginative play reflected the inspiration they gained from both the book and the art activity.
