National Estate Planning Awareness Week is a timely reminder of the importance of safeguarding your assets and ensuring a smooth transition for your loved ones. Founded in 2008, this annual event, observed during the third full week of October, emphasizes the necessity of creating a comprehensive estate plan.

An estate plan is more than just a legal document; it’s a roadmap for your financial future. It can include a will, a trust, or both, and outlines your wishes for the distribution of your assets. Additionally, it should specify beneficiary designations for your bank accounts, retirement plans, and life insurance policies. To ensure your affairs are managed effectively in case of incapacity, powers of attorney for both financial and healthcare decisions are crucial components.

Check out all of our free estate planning resources on our planned giving page.

Empowering Nonprofits and Students:

The Impact of the Henry County Community Foundation’s Internship Grant Program

“Our interns have been a game changer,” says Gene. “They’ve handled a variety of tasks, including developing our newsletter, updating our mailing list, researching grant opportunities, and so much more. Their work has allowed others within the Raintree HFH organization time to concentrate on other aspects of the ministry and mission.”

For nonprofit organizations like Raintree HFH, having access to passionate, capable interns through the Foundation’s grant program is invaluable. Beyond the practical help, the fresh perspectives and energy that these students bring have fueled the organization’s growth.
