The OSU Alumni Band is the largest all-brass and percussion college alumni band in the U.S. It's comprised of OSU graduates, ranging in age from their early 20s to their late 80s. Throughout the year, members perform at concerts, festivals and parades across the state and support the OSU Buckeyes at away football games.
"Hang on Sloopy!"
Fan favorites, such as "Buckeye Battlecry" and "Hang on Sloopy," will be played at their concert, along with jazz, marches, contemporary music and big band hits.
The rock song, "Hang on Sloopy," was originally recorded in 1964 by The Vibrations. It was brought to Ohio in 1965 by a Dayton group called The McCoys.
In 1985, the Ohio General Assembly designated "Hang on Sloopy" as the State Rock Song. However, it was not put into law until May 8, 2014 when the Ohio House passed a bill to name it the "Official State Rock Song."
