We had so much fun and learned so much from Heidi Pridemore that we decided we needed to invite her back to host another retreat. The weekend retreat starts on Wednesday February 7 and ends on Sunday February 11. You can arrive as early as 10:00 on Wednesday and spend the day working on your own projects. Classes will be Thurday and Friday. Saturday will be a free sew day when you can finish up class projects or work on your own projects. Departure is Sunday morning. Lunches and Dinners are included, and breakfast items will be available.



Cost for the weekend is $450. A deposit of $100 is required to hold your spot, with the balance due upon arrival.

Color Play Lecture and English Paper Piecing Workshop with Heidi Pridemore       

All Day Thursday Feb 8th

Lecture with workshop. Length: 6-8 hours

Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

 

The first part of this event will be a trunk show as we go over Color, Value and Patterns of fabrics. We will discuss strong combinations that will make beautiful quilts. Students are also encouraged to pick 5-10 fabrics from their stash that we can review as a group and make suggestions to make a stronger combo. (This is optional).

In the workshop, Heidi will guide you through her way of selecting fabrics and tips on how to pair up strong color combinations for your future quilt projects. She will also cover basic English Paper Piecing Techniques and tips while constructing this fun little pin cushion in class.

 

Class Kit Included in the workshop fee

Kit includes one spool of Aurifil 80wt gray thread, sewing needles, pre-cut fabric shapes, pre-cut paper pieces, fabric for pincushion side & backing, walnut shells, polyfil and glue stick. 



The Ultimate Project Bag

All Day Friday Feb 9th

Workshop Length: 6 hours

Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

 

In this workshop we will be making this amazing project bag. We will go over tips on installing a zipper, working with vinyl, creating interior pockets, how to upsize a bag pattern and bag making basics while assembling the perfect project bag.

 

Class Kit Included in workshop fee

Kit includes precut batik fabric for the project bag (assorted color options will be available), Vinyl, zipper, glue stick, interfacing and zipper pull.

Heidi grew up in Rochester, NY, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2000, Heidi began offering her services as a product designer to a number of fabric companies. She created her own line of quilt patterns beginning in 2002 and in 2004 Heidi started designing fabric in her own bright and whimsical style. By 2005 the workload warranted expanding to a partnership and The Whimsical Workshop, LLC was born with Heidi as CIO (Chief Imagination Officer). Heidi has written books ranging in topics from pop-up paper structures, fabric jewelry and of course quilting. In 2020 she started The Whimsical Workshop YouTube Channel, all about everything creative. Heidi is an Aurifilosopher with Aurifil Threads and a BERNINA Ambassador.
