INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Using 311 and Code Enforcement

June 22

Ward III Meeting Room

1510 E Grant Road

5:30 pm

Wondering how to report issues What are Code Enforcement issues?

What do we report?

Weeds?

Dumping?

Signs we are not sure about?

Do we report by phone

or by computer?

This is your chance to learn and to ask questions.

ABOVE PHOTOS all taken from recent reports by Jefferson Park neighbors to Environmental Services. Thank you to those who take the time and energy to do the reporting.

100 ft Poles in Jefferson Park

City Council sides with TEP - In spite of UA Area Plan

In spite of hundreds of e-mails, letters, and compelling testimony from Tucson residents, the City Council supported 100 ft poles in mid-town.

The City Council voted 4 to 3 to allow the 100 ft poles, ignoring the University Plan and UDC. Thank you to Kevin Dahl, Miranda Schubert, and Paul Cunningham, who voted to support undergrounding. This decision sets the precedent that will allow TEP to erect 100 ft poles in any neighborhood.

It is clearly a dangerous decision and the Undergrounding Coalition and Underground Arizona will now move to the next step. Stay tuned!

Jefferson Park Kiosk in Banner Greenspace

gets a new look!

At the southeast corner of Lester and Warren is the Jefferson Park Kiosk. We have struggled with the best way to present posters--the heat curled the cork board. The solution is magnets! Check it out on your next walk. Some great history photos. Thank you, Liz! It looks great!

IST Update

Dear Neighbors of Jefferson Park,

We want to keep you informed about a couple of important updates regarding our campus and the surrounding community.

Upcoming Campus Construction

Starting next week, we will begin installing two new modular classrooms on site. To give you a sense of scale, these portables will be slightly smaller than the existing ones currently on campus.

  • Timeline: Work begins next week and is scheduled for completion by the first week of August, before the new school year starts.
  • Site Plan: For your reference, I have attached the site plan to this email so you can see exactly where the new modules will be placed. Please note that the two large, beautiful trees on the southwest corner of campus will not be touched.
  • Impact: We are making every effort to minimize disruptions, noise, and traffic in the neighborhood during this period.

Update on the Neighborhood Park

In addition to our campus improvements, we know how important the local park is to everyone. We are actively working with the city to get it reopened! To push this forward, I have a meeting scheduled with the City of Tucson during the second week of July to discuss the next steps. I will be sure to share an update with you all as soon as I have more details.

We deeply appreciate your patience, support, and continued partnership as we improve our spaces. If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Warm regards,

Jessica Palma

Head of School

Grant Road Project - Phases 5/6 - Plans underway

Construction begins 2029 - walls included

Phases 5/6 include the northern border of our neighborhood from Campbell to Santa Rita, Noise walls are included. Go to www.grantroad.info to see the plans in full.

An enlarged copy of the map will be on display at the June 24 JPNA meeting.

Department of Transportation sent these

noise wall samples.

To erect a wall, 50% of the adjacent properties (shaded blue) must agree to the wall for it to move forward.

This photo was excerpted from the larger map. The yellow lines are the 5ft to 8ft sidewalks bordering the proposed widened six-lane Grant Road.

If you live in Jefferson Park, there should be no helicopters bound for Banner Hospital over your house. Jefferson Park has an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that all helicopters must enter and leave south of the hospital, unless there's a special emergency or weather factors dictate a change in the flight path.

Place this number in your phone and just call that number-it is quick and easy and helps inform Banner.

Call BUMC Security: 520-694-6533, just give location of helicopter-no need to give your name
