Dear Friends of the Arts,
Conceived as a uniquely sensory experience, Discovery is the third installment of Lines of Sight Exhibitions. I am thrilled to announce that, the works of 33 amazing artists including photography, painting, mixed media, textiles, and jewelry will be on display. Everything about Discovery is unexpected. One of many highlights is a never before seen image of Andy Warhol, camera in hand snapping a photo of the artist, Steven Erle, snapping a picture of Andy that connects them forever in this moment of time long ago in the infamous NYC night club – Studio 54. These Discovery artists are as diverse in nature as their work. It will be presented on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 10 AM to 4 PM – One day only. The show is inspired by its location, an amazing Hollywood Hills estate built 100 years ago, embodying a history of art and community so deeply rooted in its grain. I call it this wondrous place Dr. Kappeler’s Secret Garden as Dr. Kappeler was gracious enough to invite me to curate an exhibit with a handful of some of the most talented people that I work with and have had the great pleasure to know in my professional life. Surrounded by flowers, butterflies, and its arboretum, you too will discover acres of truly magical beauty and stunning views.
No place like this exists in LA. It is a treasure, hidden away on the hill, and for this single day, each room and the surrounding grounds will offer its own experience for the viewer. Suddenly you will be utterly transported. Incredibly, no one has lived in this auspicious place for decades. Sequestered in its solitude, this mansion and grounds have been waiting for us all to find it, and I have heard the call.
Discovery is presented as a full sensory experience enhanced by amazingly fragrant floral designs full of fragrance, French wine, and the legendary John Wayne’s “The Duke’s” Whiskey for tasting, coffee and delightful gourmet treats. A live Jazz by The Klimak Trio will provide a scintillating listening experience throughout the day. And remember, all the artwork will be available for purchase—artists cannot create their work if we do not support them. The majority of the exhibiting artists will be present to chat with you and so that you can gain further understanding of what makes each of them so special and why their work deserves your attention.
Discovery affirms that when we support our artists, the world is just better. I am truly excited and honored to have the opportunity to share their work, passion, and love in this extraordinary location, born in the heart of Hollywood’s greater community and touching all art lovers from the ocean to downtown Los Angeles and beyond. This is a single day of theater, of moments, of delight, and may never again take place, so get ready, join us and be part of the history. Support the artists with your presence and you may also be lucky enough to take home a treasure.
