A message from the Executive Director - Melissa Karrer

Hi Friends,

Our calendars & hearts were full in October, as you'll see in our "Out & About" section. We're always so grateful for so many wonderful opportunities to be out in the community to share our mission.

In the spirit of gratitude, we have officially moved and have settled into our new location for which we are so grateful. Our new address is 860 Corporate Drive, Suite 103, Lexington 40503. Be sure to share this information with anyone who may need us and stop by for a tour!

We are looking forward to hosting an official ribbon cutting in partnership with Commerce Lexington, to celebrate our new space, on November 5th. See details below!

We recently hosted our first of three series of events with Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana. These are free support programs in Lexington for cancer patients, caregivers, survivors, and those who have experienced a cancer-related loss.

Programs run October through December 2025 — see the flyer below for details. We hope you can join us! It's so exciting to be able to expand partnerships in our new space!

Thanks for staying connected. Together, we’ll continue to be a link to hope for our fellow Kentuckians.

Cheers,

Melissa

Out & About

Melanie joined the Versailles Community on Friday, October 10th for their "Light Up Woodford County" event hosted by the Versailles Pink Sisters Support Group, in honor of those affected by breast cancer.

Melissa was in Pikeville on Saturday, October 11th for their annual Paint Pikeville Pink 5K/10K hosted by the Pike County Health Department. Thank you for your continued support of our mission, Pike County Health Department.

Ginger and Melanie joined the staff at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood for their annual See, Test, Treat screening event on Saturday, October 11th. KCL was honored to partner with the staff at St. Elizabeth for this impactful event for the community.

Melissa, Carla, & Melanie made a trip to Frankfort recently for the budget review subcommittee meeting. Melissa had the opportunity to advocate for additional funding for the KY Colon Cancer Screening & Prevention program to the subcommittee on health and family services in Frankfort on Wednesday, October 15th along with Dr. Whitney Jones, Senator Stephen Meredith, & Representative Amy Neighbors.

Melanie joined the staff at Baptist Health Hamburg for their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, October 18th in Lexington. The weather was beautiful, and it was a perfect day to celebrate & remember those impacted by breast cancer.

We are so grateful for this gorgeous "Quilt of Hope" that we had the honor of hanging in our new office space recently.

This beautiful labor of love was made possible by the generous donations of devoted time and funding from Rick & Melinda Dowd (quilters), Amber Philpot, Barry Stumbo, Rod & Di Boyer, Dr. Sloan & Jane Warner, Allen & Kathy Love, Ellen Winkler, Robin Thomerson, Brenda Nease, Dr. Kimberly Stigers, Paula Boyer, & Peggy Rambicure.

We know that this lovely addition will be a reminder of hope for anyone who walks into our office. Thank you for being a link to hope for Kentuckians.

This recipe is a variation of traditional pumpkin pie and is just as easy to prepare.
