LinkUS is a collaborative initiative of the City of Columbus, Central Ohio Transit Authority, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. Other local and regional partners support this important work. LinkUS partner agencies and supporters, along with the community, play a crucial role by providing input, guidance and direction to help build a mobility system that provides opportunity for all people in our growing region.

East-West Corridors Update

This month the coalition has put together several virtual engagement sessions and we are looking forward to having these insightful conversations with the biking cycling community and business owners located around East Main Street and West Broad Street. Your voice is invaluable in helping us discover the best enhancement solutions for East Main and West Broad corridors. Please join us or watch videos on the YouTube channel.

Biking Community Engagement Sessions

Earlier this month, we held virtual engagement sessions for the biking community to discuss the West Broad Street BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and the East Main Street BRT. There were updates on the project as well as roundtable discussion opportunities to address questions from the community.

Business Owners Engagement Sessions

Do you or someone you know have a business on or near East Main or West Broad? We are asking business owners to join us in either of our engagement sessions on March 15 at 10 a.m. or March 16 at 7 p.m. At these sessions, the LinkUS team will share updates to the project as well as have a round table discussion including both the corridors’ benefits to local businesses and an opportunity to raise questions or concerns.

Two in-person engagement opportunities and two virtual sessions have been scheduled. COMMUNITY INSIGHTS

At LinkUS, we’re laying the foundation to build the future of mobility in our region. This work requires a detailed and nuanced understanding of our community. Through research, we unpack how our neighbors move, where they go and what they need to live a more prosperous life. COTA has access to robust community surveys that unpack what residents need and want when it comes to mobility solutions. Below are some findings from COTA’s recent survey.

According to a December 2021 COTA Community survey, nearly 80 percent of Central Ohioans support ensuring that all new development includes bike lanes and sidewalks. That same survey also shows that 77 percent of Central Ohioans support improving public transit and bicycle access to employment centers that are further from residential areas.

Our community is crystal clear. Central Ohioans want transportation infrastructure that supports cyclists, pedestrians and public transportation riders. LinkUS Columbus is carving a path toward this future where mobility options such as high-capacity rapid transit, safe bike lanes and accessible sidewalks are available in strategic corridors and that support smart growth in our region.
