Since its outset in August, the LinkUS Leadership Coalition Steering Committee has held four meetings to expand on the technical details of program development and coordination and to consider possible funding scenarios for the LinkUS program. During the December meeting, the committee heard from COTA and Columbus Department of Public Service officials about the LinkUS Leaders’ Coalition Report and key outcomes for LinkUS programs.

The committee also discussed funding approaches and collaborative transit-oriented development.

Bringing High-Capacity Transit to the Greater Columbus Region

With recent input from representatives in cities like Austin, Charlotte and Indianapolis, LinkUS is taking the first steps toward bringing high-capacity rapid transit to the region. Learning how peer cities have developed, implemented and championed new mobility systems can provide insight into how our region can create an equitable and sustainable system in Greater Columbus. With early plans underway to revitalize and upgrade mobility in the East-West Corridors and the Northwest Corridor, we are beginning to see the path forward to implementing smart mobility and sustainable infrastructure in the region.
