Shifting into the Second Half of our Academic Year

It finally looked like winter in Iowa with last week's snow. It felt like a fresh opportunity for our students to build on their accomplishments from the first half of the year and embark on new goals for the months ahead.

Tomorrow our district will host Roar Like a Lion Pre-registration open house events at our elementary buildings as we begin to look ahead to our 2025-26 academic year. The focus of these events is to help pre-register families interested in our early childhood programs, and we're excited to welcome parents and families into our buildings for a tour and to begin the paperwork process. Families returning to Linn-Mar and those with students in other grades will see more information later this year on the timing for registration for all students in our district.

In other news, earlier this month our school board officially approved academic calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years. We hope our families use these to help plan their personal commitments in advance.

While these are forward-looking resources, we continue to be excited about the opportunities each day brings for our students in our current academic year as well! Enjoy the start of 2025!

ACHIEVE Family Portal Coming in February

The Iowa Department of Education will be launching the ACHIEVE Family Portal in February, 2025. The Department of Education created the ACHIEVE Family Portal to allow families with learners with Individual Education Programs (IEPs) to create an account to access key documents related to their learner(s). For more information on the ACHIEVE Family Portal, please see the Iowa Department of Education Website- ACHIEVE Family Portal- Family Resources Website.

In the next few weeks, the Linn-Mar Student Services Department and Student Services teachers will be sharing additional information with families of learners with IEP services.
