Thankful This Holiday Season

Cooler temperatures are settling in, reminding all of us of the importance of ensuring every student has what they need to stay warm and supported during this season.

This time of year may bring unique challenges for some of our students, and I'm thankful for the many ways our staff and community support our students who have the most need. I'm grateful for the many hands involved in every building across our district that partner together to make sure we're taking care of our students. It's also heartwarming to see how many of our students are giving back to the community - not just during the Thanksgiving season, but all year long. You can read more about these efforts in the story included below.

My wish for all of our families is to have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving season.

"Making Great Things Happen..."

On November 17th our district joined the City of Marion for a ribbon cutting event at the Taube Park / Wilkins Elementary playground.

“We love partnering with the schools, and this is just one of those examples,” said Mayor Nick AbouAssaly at the event. “The Marion way is to find partnerships and make great things happen by bringing different groups together.”

You might have noticed 15 of our Wilkins students in photos of the ribbon cutting (pictured, right.)

These students filled out an application explaining why they wanted to be part of this special celebration, and completed an interview to be 'selected' for the opportunity. We were thrilled to have them part of this celebration, and hope the community enjoys this new space as much as our Wilkins students!
