1) Milestone:

5000 LinnStruments Sold!

Yes, 5000 LinnStruments (both models total) have now been sold, 2/3 of which are the large model. It's been a fun journey so far, and exciting to see that for many, LinnStrument is their principal musical instrument.

2) NAMM Show "MPC Legends" panel discussion (video)

The NAMM music products show was on the recent weekend of January 23 to 25 in Los Angeles. I no longer exhibit at NAMM, but Akai/inMusic kindly invited me to participate in a panel discussion called "MPC Legends", including four famous producers who use the MPC in their work:

1) Jimmy Jam

2) Jermaine Dupri

3) Bryan Michael Cox

4) Just Blaze

And hosted by Andy Mac of Akai/inMusic

Given that I designed the original MPC back in 1988, it was very special for me to meet these gentlemen and to learn how they have used, and are using, the modern MPC models in their production process. Here's a video of the event.

3) "Buchla & Friends" synth show in LA

Instead of exhibiting at the NAMM show, I exhibited at a new synth-focused show in LA called "Buchla & Friends" on January 25 & 26, the same dates as NAMM. It's put on by the current Buchla company, which still makes the products designed by my old friend and master synth designer, the late Don Buchla.

I prefer this show to NAMM because it's focused on synth enthusiasts, is free for attendees, and there are no tubas, heavy metal guitarists, or drummer wars. :) If you're in LA, I recommend attending next year, Check the buchla.com site as next January approaches to learn the where and when.
