Hello from Roger Linn--

Here are a few items of possible interest to LinnStrument owners or enthusiasts.

If there's anything you'd like to see in future newsletters, please let me know.

1) The "Five LinnStruments Club"

Kevin Brown of St. Louis, Missouri is the founding member of the new "5 LinnStruments Club", owning two LinnStrument 200s and three LinnStrument 128s. He configures them as follows:

At left:

Three LinnStrument 128s oriented vertically, using his Modified Harpejji tuning Format. Each has a cc column at left, with the other vertical columns consisting of consecutive semitones and each column one whole tone higher than the column to its left. There's also a bottom split for an Octave of alternate sounds pitched an octave lower than above columns, or as keyswitches to change sound variations. The wood pieces between the three units are removed to bring them closer together.

At right:

The upper LinnStrument has his custom Drum Map layout in the left split of 16 columns, and CC Faders in the right split. The lower LinnStrument uses the default LinnStrument tuning with split mode on, used primarily for soloing. The wood pieces between the two units are removed to bring them closer together.

To learn more details about Kevin's setup, see his thread about this on the LinnStrument KVR Forum.

Thanks, Kevin, for valuing LinnStrument enough to own five.

2) New LinnStrument Owner Video

Here's a new video I like, composed and performed by Filip StuchlĂk of the Czech Republic.

In the video, his rows consist of consecutive major scale notes, with each row 3 scale notes higher than the previous row. But the black markings are for a different tuning he also uses, in which the rows consist of consecutive whole tones with each row 5 semitones higher than the previous row, thereby containing the in-between pitches from the previous row. The light pattern appears to be unrelated to either tuning.

The artwork in the center is a series of AI-generated text-to-image pictures made in FreePik. Thanks for sending me this, Filip.

3) A documentary about my career

I recently received a very nice email from a 24-year-old filmmaker in the UK named Jack Pearson. He also has an interest in music production and as a personal project, made this 15-minute documentary entitled "The King of Drum Machines" about my career, using snippets of video interviews from my site's PRESS page (under the OTHER menu). I was impressed with his skill at putting together this visual story and perhaps you will be, too.

4) Next LinnStrument Zoom call is tomorrow, Tuesday September 2nd

The next First-Tuesday-Of-The-Month-LinnStrument-Zoom-Call is tomorrow, Tuesday September 2nd at 10 am California time. All are welcome-- LinnStrument owners or those interested in LinnStrument. I'm happy to answer questions from potential buyers or newbies, and interesting discussions often ensue between owners about tips, techniques, specific synths, or editing the source code.

To get the Zoom meeting link, click here or click "Monthly Zoom call with Roger" from the LinnStrument Support page. I hope you can join the meeting, if not this one then on any future first Tuesday of the month at 10 am California time.

Note: The only way you got this newsletter is if you intentionally opted in to my monthly email newsletter list.
