BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT | TONIGHT - Thursday, August 29
Parents are invited to join us tonight, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., for our annual Back-to-School Night on campus. This event will provide an opportunity to meet your student's teachers and visit your student's classrooms. This event is only for parents. As a word of caution, the parking lot often fills up early on Back-to-School Night so please plan accordingly.

SUMMER ABROAD 2025
Information Meeting: TONIGHT, Thursday, August 29 after Back-to-School Night in the Busch Hall Middle Center Room.
Sign-ups for summer abroad will open soon! From June 8 to 19, we will travel to Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich. We will visit Hitler's stronghold, ride bikes around Salzburg, visit the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein, and see the darkness of the Dachau concentration camp. COLLEGE REP VISITS 2024
College admission representatives will have in-person information sessions with our students throughout the fall. STUDENTS: please make sure to add schools to your "Colleges I'm Thinking About" list in Naviance so you will be notified if they visit our campus. Colleges will be added frequently, so check the list of visits at the beginning of each week. Visits will take place during Lunch B in the Quad in a mini-fair format. Students need to sign up for the visits through Naviance if they would like to speak to the reps.

Senior students and parents: It is time to sign up for your mandatory Senior College Prep meetings. During these 45-minute meetings, your counselor will ensure you are all set for the college application process. Please check your email for more information and make an appointment. You must let your teacher know in advance, and you are still responsible for any homework, projects, or assignments due on the day of your meeting.

Lion’s Heart is a national nonprofit organization that connects students with local volunteer opportunities, encouraging their members to give back to their communities in meaningful ways while building empathy and positive leadership skills. Members can serve as individuals or as a group. Group members have additional opportunities to build leadership skills through hosting meetings, assigning officer roles, and coordinating a community service calendar with their group-mates. The Lion’s Heart online portal allows members track hours, earn awards, and export their service transcript directly to college applications. CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEANUP DAY
JSerra students are invited to participate in Santa Margarita Water District's California Coastal Cleanup Day event on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Descanso Park in San Juan Capistrano. This annual event is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in environmental stewardship by helping clean up our local beaches, parks, and waterways. Hours earned at this event are eligible for Christian service hours. Registration is required (see link below - registration will open on Friday, August 30).

JSERRA ARTS ACADEMY - MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND & ORCHESTRA
We are excited to be back for a second year! This fun and educational program is open to all middle school students in Grades 6-8 who are interested in working with JSerra faculty and student mentors to learn how to play a musical instrument. No previous experience is required. Two levels of instruction are offered, one for beginners and one for intermediate students with at least one year of experience playing a musical instrument.
SAVE THE DATE - We will be hosting a Program Information and Instrument Exploration Night at JSerra on Monday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m., to assist beginners in choosing their instrument.

SAILING TEAM NEWS
The sailing season officially begins on Tuesday, September 3. We look forward to welcoming new members and to another great year of teaching new sailors and honing the skills of our racers. JSerra is blessed to have Dana Point Harbor less than ten minutes from campus. The Bronze medal winner at the Paris Olympics learned to sail in our harbor!
