Our office settled a lawsuit where two individual guarantors, also owners of a restaurant lease, were sued by the landlord for back rent. The restaurant broke the lease and vacated the premises due to Covid-19. It intended all rent owed were released by the landlord. However, the restaurant failed to enter into a settlement and release with the landlord. The lesson learned here is that whenever a dispute is finally settled and parties are to exchange considerations (e.g. money, or waive the right for something such as a lawsuit) as conditions to settle the dispute, always sign the writing and make it binding.
We settled a lawsuit where our client company asserted breach of contract and other related claims against defendant former employee and his newly founded business for taking and using a 3D panoramic imaging scanner without permission. Our office represents a private high school student to successfully negotiate a tuition dispute settlement with the school.
