Dear SJPS families and friends,
I am so blessed to be the principal of St. Jerome Parish School! After I share this next school-wide "Something Beautiful" with you, I'm sure that you will agree. It happened this morning.
We had our school mass for our 1st through 8th graders. At the beginning of the homily, Fr. Jerry spoke with the children about Fr. Tom. He shared that Fr. Tom is very, very sick and that he continues to need our prayers. Fr. Jerry told the children that he had just returned from visiting Fr. Tom and that he had given him the Sacrament, Anointing of the Sick and Apostolic Pardon. He explained everything in a beautiful way and then spoke of being kind, caring friends and going out and showing kindness to others. What a gift we received! I want you to know what was said to the children so that you, as mom and dad, can talk with your children and join us in prayer for Fr. Tom.
Our school mass is recorded each week and available on Youtube. I have included a link to today's mass below. Fr. Jerry's homily is at 11:40 minutes into the recording. Also, earlier this week, we had planned to pray as a school after our mass today. Mr. Paloucek, our school Virtues and MS Religion teacher, led our children in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Fr. Tom. This begins at 37:30 in the recording. At the beginning the children were quiet and learning the prayer but by the time we completed it, the sound of the children's voices being raised in prayer for Fr. Tom brought tears to my eyes! Please take the time to view today's mass and listen to Fr. Jerry's homily and also the Divine Mercy Chaplet. You could bring up the video and pray the chaplet along with Mr. Paloucek and the students this weekend and continue prayers for our Fr. Tom. Thank you!
Great news! On Wednesday, we were informed that we had received two grants from the Catholic Foundation. We were awarded $10,000 to go toward tuition assistance and $10,000 to go toward our efforts in distance learning. We are so blessed! A very special thank you to Laura Herne for applying for these grants and helping us grow our lovely parish school.
Don't forget to register for the 2021-2022 school year! We love our families and want to grow! We need you to register so that staffing can be planned. Thank you for helping us! Don't forget the family referral program! It's a great opportunity to share what we have going on here at SJPS and also receive $100 in SCRIP as a thank you! (The family that you refer and registers with us, receives $100 SCRIP too!)
Peace and blessings to you and your families,
