Secondary Principals Coffee: September 14

Our first Secondary Principals Coffee of the year is Monday, September 14 at 9 am. We have five of these each year, and they are an opportunity for parents to get updates on what is going on in the Middle and High Schools and ask questions. The Principals Coffees will be held via Zoom. So brew yourself a nice coffee or tea, grab a pastry, and log in!

Improving Your Home Network Connectivity

Our network specialist has shared information for families who are having issues with their internet connectivity.

When Your Child is Absent from Class

Parents, when your child is absent from class due to illness, a doctor’s visit, etc., please email the attendance office so that the absence can be marked as “excused”. Absences will be marked as “unexcused” without a parent email.

Middle School attendance office. High School attendance office.

If a student is not ill but is unable to get into a class due to technical difficulties, they should email the teacher. If they are able to get into class later, they may still be counted present. If not, they still may be counted present if they complete classwork and turn it in by the end of that day (i.e. by that evening).
Secondary Open House Curriculum Night Plans
The format of our Open House Curriculum Night will be different this year. On Friday, September 2, we will post videos made by each teacher in which they introduce their class. Parents may watch the videos for all of their secondary students’ classes.

The following week, parents will have an opportunity to connect online with each teacher for a live Question and Answer session. The Middle School Open House Q & A will be Tuesday, September 8, and the High School Open House Q & A will be Wednesday, September 9. Be looking for a schedule for the night and Zoom links in next week’s Lions Share!

Model United Nations

Model UN gives students the opportunity to practice research, speech-writing, debate, presentation, and diplomacy skills while learning about today's global issues. During COVID-19, most conferences will be virtual, although in-person conferences and travel could be possible in the spring of 2021. Ms. Lane, Ms. Machczynski, and Ms. Perkins are co-sponsoring Model UN this year.

There is a Mandatory Parent & Student Meeting for all Model UN members and potential members Thursday, September 3, 6-7 pm. The link to the Zoom webinar is in next week's Lions Share.
