This class is geared towards staff that interview tenants and perform income calculations for HUD 50059s. Learn what types of income do and don’t count and how to correctly annualize these figures. We will explore when you can utilize EIV Income Reports as the sole source of income verification and when other methods of verification are required. This is a fundamental class for managers new to the affordable housing industry needing to establish this critical skill set for appropriate eligibility determination and rent calculations. Up to date on how to maneuver through COVID pandemic will be included.
February 23 - VAWA & Covid 2021

VAWA expired in December of 2019 and renewal legislation is pending. Find out what VAWA expiration means for your property and what a post-election reauthorization might look like. We will review the current requirements and discuss the challenging issues facing managers. Will HUD ever SIGNATURE COURSE CATALOG Page 14 of 18 issue the form revisions it proposed in August 2017? What guidance have HUD and other agencies provided about real-world dilemmas you encounter? Current RD guidance will be discussed along with an update on what your state agency is doing to implement VAWA on their tax credit sites. We will review the latest additions to your state laws regarding domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking and close with an updated list of “Actions Needed” for each type of property covered by the law.
