IN PERSON CERT TRAINING
Announcing the FIRST IN-PERSON CERT Basic Training Class which will be taking place in Battalion 18. It's being conducted at the same location where the very LAST in-person class was held prior to COVID-19, the IMAN Center in Palms, 3376 Motor Ave., Los Angeles, 90034.

The class will begin on April 7 and continue every THURSDAY NIGHT FROM 630-9P / 1830-2100 Hours. Classes will conclude on May 19, 2022. Please note that the following weekend, a mapping exercise is planned for the Westside Village area which will allow the new graduates to get some time to apply their new skills. More is to come on that later.

Seating in the class is limited due to social distancing procedures. This is a class that has been greatly anticipated for a long time. It is asked that previously CERT trained members REFRAIN from signing up for this class. We'd like to leave it for folks, especially those coming through our NTP program to take. Previously trained members will have the opportunity as more classes open up down the line. Also, our previously trained members SHOULD be taking advantage of the in-person opportunities such as the monthly pop-ups to sharpen skills. Additionally, PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS IF YOU INTEND TO ATTEND FOR THE FULL DURATION. Again, seating is limited and it is a shame to have seats go empty because folks decided NOT to continue for whatever reason.
6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Class 1 – Apr 7     (Introduction, Disaster Awareness)
Class 2 – Apr 14     (ICS and Disaster Psychology)
Class 3 – Apr 21     (Disaster Medical Operations 1)

Class 6 – May 12    (Light Search and Rescue)

YOU MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES TO RECEIVE A "CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.

Talk Ethics with Controller Ron Galperin
The cornerstone of American democracy is participation in government. But participation is undermined when people lose trust in their local government officials and institutions. This can happen when ethics are breached, laws are broken, and funds are wasted or abused by those in power. With a string of corruption charges targeting current and former City of Los Angeles officials, change is needed. But how can we get there? Can public corruption be prevented? Is ethics reform needed? Is it possible to rebuild the public trust?

On March 24, City Controller Ron Galperin is hosting a community conversation featuring experts in government ethics and reform. The event will focus on how to rebuild trust in government in the face of local corruption scandals and what can be done to prevent these issues from being repeated in the future. Click here for more details and to register.
