In these unprecedented times, I am so proud of the remarkable pivot Literacy Delaware has made to continue delivering services. That pivot entailed workshops and resources for tutors on using technology, ideas and teaching strategies for remote instruction, development of a resource intranet site for tutors and an intranet site for the Board of Directors, a Strategic Plan, new Board members, Chromebooks to lend to learners, and redesigned tutor training for virtual delivery. Tutors and staff are working tirelessly to engage learners as we continue to learn how to use technology more efficiently and effectively. The “pandemic” has allowed us to bring the vision of using technology for instruction to reality.
We cannot see what 2021 will bring, but I know that we are prepared to meet new challenges whether remote or in person. With your unwavering support and our dedicated volunteers, we will continue to empower adult learners through literacy.
