Dear Delegates to Annual Convention,

Thank you again for your service as a delegate to our 227th Annual Convention! We look forward to being "together" again virtually to do the work that God has called us to do.

As Bishop Goff announced in September, the Convention has been moved online. As we did with our online Convention in November 2020 and the Special Convention in April 2021, diocesan staff will provide technical tutorials on how to participate in online Convention. In order to fully participate, you will need: reliable internet access; a computer, laptop, tablet or other device for your individual use; and access to your email.

Convention Dates and Times
Friday, November 12 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Delegates will be emailed Zoom links two days prior to Convention.
What to Expect at Convention: A Guide for Delegates
Parliamentarian J.P. Causey explains in this video the delegate’s role and what happens not only during diocesan Convention, but also in the weeks leading up to Convention: what’s covered, how we vote, how to submit legislation, the deadlines, changes to legislative process, what you must review in advance to participate effectively, and why you’ll want to be sure to tune into open hearings the week before Convention. Watch

Key Deadlines
Tuesday, Oct. 26 | Deadline to submit nominations for Standing Committee
Friday, Nov. 5 | Deadline to register for Convention

Wednesday, Nov. 3, NOON | Deadline to submit proposed resolutions, budget amendments, amendments to Constitution and Canons. Please read full instructions on the main Convention page. Note: According to the Rules of Order, except for amendments to or substitutes for resolutions made by the Committee, no amendment to or substitute for a proposed Resolution, the Draft Budget or Amendment to Constitution and Canons shall be in order unless it has been submitted in writing by November 3. Questions and comments may also be submitted to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]

Open Hearings
Saturday, November 6  via Zoom
Committees of Convention will hold Open Hearings via Zoom, where delegates will have the opportunity to speak to resolutions, the proposed budget, and Constitution and Canons. While there will be opportunity to speak to these items at Convention, the hearings allow additional time and opportunity for delegates to offer their views and concerns, so it’s important to attend. Prior to the hearings, please review and familiarize yourself with the proposed resolutions, amendments and draft budget.

  • Budget 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Constitution & Canons 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
  • Resolutions 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Zoom links will be emailed to delegates 2 days prior to the hearings

Technical Tutorial and Training Session
Monday, November 1, 5:30 p.m. via Zoom
Diocesan staff will walk delegates through the voting system, how to speak during debate on Resolutions, Budget, and Amendments and how to manage other Zoom functions. Please mark your calendars. You will receive a Zoom link for the training soon. Remember, in order to fully participate in Open Hearings and Convention, you will need: reliable internet access; a computer, laptop, tablet or other device for your individual use; and access to the email you provided at registration.

Stay on Top of New Submissions and Information
The Convention pages of the diocesan website are updated regularly with important document that delegates will need to review prior to Convention, including nominations, proposed resolutions, amendments and budget. We ask you to please check the site regularly for updated content.
