Holiday Bookfest

Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 from 3-5 pm
Think about holiday shopping.  Imagine malls.  Parking.  Crowds.  Now imagine a Saturday afternoon in November, walking up the deliciously worn wooden steps of the Phinney Neighborhood Center to find a boutique bookstore, created especially by local indie bookstore Secret Garden.  Imagine encountering not only the books, but the authors who wrote them - signing, reading (and sometimes even singing).  And all the while you can nibble on fresh baked goods, created by the authors themselves.

Authors include Kevin O'Brien, Elizabeth George, Tara Conklin, Deb Caletti, Carol Cassella, Laurie Frankel, Lynn Brunnell, Sean Beaudoin, Peter Mountford, William Deietrich, Bharti Kirchner, Bob Dugoni, Bernadette Pajer, Donna Miscolta, Frances McCue, Kathleen Alcala, and more.  A portion of the proceeds will go to 826 Seattle and the PNA, so you can indulge your bookishness and help two good causes, all at the same time.

p.s. We'll be collecting gently used books for the pocket library programs - bring three or more books and get a reusable Seattle7Writers bag you can use to carry your purchases.

"A moving story told by a wonderful writer...Reminds us that the people around us have helped form who we are, but in the end, the person we are capable of becoming is up to us."

These funds are to support readings, memorial gatherings, or other similar events and study groups celebrating a woman writer's work.
The application process is simple and the time between applying and notification short. For the first year, Soapstone board members will serve as the grant review committee.

All events and study groups will be open to the public and offered at no charge.
