Founding Partner Bernard A. Krooks Featured in Where is Wendy Williams? Documentary

Mr. Krooks was also interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter

ICYMI! On February 24 and 25, @Lifetime aired a heart wrenching documentary, Where is Wendy Williams?, about the long-time media personality Wendy Williams, who is most known for The Wendy Williams Show, and, most recently, her battle with dementia and guardianship. The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Founding Partner Bernard A. Krooks, J.D., CPA, LLM (in taxation), CELA®, AEP® (Distinguished) at length explaining the guardianship process and its challenges.

The Queen of Media’s story underscores the importance of proper estate and elder law planning. It can happen to anyone, irrespective of fame or fortune. As Wendy Williams said it best, “I have no money and I’m going to tell you something…if it happens to me, it could happen to you.” Ms. Williams suffers from a similar type of dementia as Bruce Willis.

Our colleagues at The Special Needs Alliance updated the Administering a Special Needs Trust: A Handbook for Trustees for 2024.

Special Needs Trusts are complicated and can be hard to understand and administer. They are like other trusts in many respects—the general rules of trust accounting, law and taxation apply—but unlike more familiar trusts in other respects.
