Partner Marion Walsh to Serve as a Panelist for College Transition and Mental Health | |
Partner Marion Walsh is honored to be a panelist at the NAMI Westchester Event, “College Transition and Your Mental Health Journey: Empower Your Path,” on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm at The Gottesman Room at the Jeanette and Morris Kessel Student Center on Pace University’s Pleasantville campus.
In these challenging times, all students transitioning to college need to be prepared. Based on multiple reports and studies, the U.S. has a mental health crisis on college campuses. According to the Healthy Minds Study in 2022-2023 , the majority of college students in the US meet the criteria for at least one mental-health condition. Specifically, among other concerns, in 2023, 44 percent of students reported symptoms of depression and 37 percent reported anxiety.
Marion will discuss the legal nuts and bolts of the transition to college and essential forms to prepare for this journey, for students, parents, and all stakeholders. In addition to Marion, a diverse panel of college counselors, high school counselors and students will share perspectives. Dr. Marjorie Seidenfeld, of Empower Uny will be the keynote speaker. Her mission aims to support students and their families, so that students are empowered to undertake the responsibility of caring for themselves in college.
Thanks to both NAMI Westchester and Pace University for hosting this important event for aspiring college students and their families.
