Ringing in the new year brings updated estate and gift tax exemption amounts for 2025. The federal estate and gift tax exemption has now risen to $13.99 million per person, allowing married couples the advantage of portability, effectively safeguarding $27.98 million from estate taxes upon death. The tax rate for gifts and estates exceeding the exemption remains steady at 40 percent.

Updates to New York State Medicaid Income and Asset Limits for 2025 | |

Every year, the New York State Department of Health updates the allowed income and resource limits for Medicaid applicants and recipients.
For Medicaid applicants seeking community Medicaid benefits on or after January 1, 2025, individuals are allowed monthly income of $1,800 plus a $20 unearned income credit and are allowed to have non-exempt resources of $32,396. Married couples who are both receiving community Medicaid benefits are allowed a combined monthly income of $2,433 plus a $20 unearned income credit and are allowed to have non-exempt resources of $43,781.

This free online workshop is aimed to teach and facilitate parents and caregivers about a child’s rights, the special education process, and how to advocate for children with special needs. The topics that were addressed included Advocacy Skills, Advocate Q&A session, AIS & 504s, Communicating with the District, Educational Records Binder, Executive Functioning, FBAs & BIPs, NYS Rules & Regulations, Transition, Understanding the CSE Process & Evaluations and much more. | |
