SPEER Team on Zpryme Podcast On the Grid: Humanizing Affordability

SPEER CEO Todd McAlister and COO Liz John recently sat down with Jason Rodriguez of Zpryme for Episode 7 of their podcast, On the Grid: Humanizing Affordability.

They discussed the role energy efficiency can play in easing pressure on customers and the grid.

In addition, they explore weatherization, heat pumps, stronger building codes, workforce challenges and what rising data center demand means for communities across Texas and Oklahoma. The conversation comes back to a simple idea: some of the most effective affordability solutions are the ones that reduce the amount of energy we need in the first place.

Sustainable Building Materials Forum: Design, (De)Construction, and the Circular Economy

What does it mean to build better? Join the City of Austin for a free full-day forum on Friday, November 13, exploring practical ways architects, designers, contractors, and other building professionals can reduce waste, make better use of materials, and rethink how we design, renovate, and take apart buildings. The forum will feature real-world examples of building reuse, upgrades, deconstruction, and reclaimed materials. Register for the Forum now!

Deconstruction Workshop

Are you a contractor interested in expanding your toolkit? The City is pleased to offer a week-long, hands-on deconstruction workshop November 16-20. Workshop participants will learn how to safely take apart a single-family home while salvaging materials for reuse. A $250 fee will help cover training costs. Apply for the workshop!
