We Share the Plate this month with SAFE: Stop Abuse for Everyone.
The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.

Love Notes
Each month, there will be a different group at Live Oak featured in our "Love Notes" appreciation program. You're encouraged to grab one of those pink sheets and let the group know how much you appreciate what they contribute to Live Oak life.  January love notes will be for our Fresh Food for All Team.  Please be sure to stop by the Love Notes box and show your love!

Are You Able to Discern When Things are Communicated Unclearly?
The Executive Team has empowered Edith Waters to create a "Clarity Task Force" to examine how as a church we may communicate more clearly. Those interested, please email Edith at Eewaters@outlook.com. People who may be especially gifted to do this work include those who are neurodivergent, new to Live Oak and Unitarian Universalism, and/or those who know how to write code (because they are accustomed to communicating without the benefit of the vehicle -- computers -- making assumptions).

Photographers Needed!
We are looking for community members with photography skills to donate their time at the Children's Dedication Service.
Photographers are needed to take pictures of children and their families at the Children's Dedication Ceremony on March 29th. This is a special day for new families and new family members, and we are hoping to provide them with a lasting memory. All photos will be given completely free of charge, with payment being smiles of gratitude. Anyone interested will need to have their own equipment and be available from 10:30am to 12:30am on March 29th.

We know we have some fantastically talented folks in the community and know you will help make some beautiful memories!  If you have any questions
or wish to volunteer please contact Michele Olivier.

Live Oak Talent Show May 2
Thanks to those who already volunteered help, but more is needed.
Before Fed & Informed was over on Feb 16, 2 people had volunteered to help: one to do the posters and one to run sound and lights! A few more people are needed: 1) to create and manage online and paper sign-up sheets, 2) stage manager (for rehearsal April 26 as well as the show May 2) to help move people and equipment on and off the stage, 3) an emcee. If you're looking for a way to get involved in the church and to meet more people, consider one of these volunteer opportunities. For more info about what these might entail, see Jen Swan. Thanks!

Calling all ages and acts to perform onstage for friends and family!
The second annual Live Oak Talent Show will take place Saturday, May 2 at 7 pm, with one rehearsal the Sunday before on April 26 in the sanctuary right after church. We need all ages of singers, dancers, musicians of all types, magicians, monologuers, songwriters, unicycle riders, joke-tellers, stand-up comics, gymnasts, and anything else you can think of! Watch this space for more info about when and how to sign up to perform!

Spring Campout!
The weekend of April 17-19 should be a good time to see wildflowers at Cedar Breaks Park on Lake Georgetown!

Live Oakers have reserved 15+ campsites so far and there are still a few campsites available that weekend. Members and Live Oak friends alike are welcome. You can make your reservation here.  The park is close enough to come out just for the day if you wish, and stay for our traditional evening potluck and campfire (hopefully no burn ban!). Email campout@liveoakuu.org, talk to Jen Swan, or see past newsletters for more info on our campouts. Join our Live Oak UU Camping Group on Facebook to ask questions and see pictures of past campouts.

ENRICH CONNECTIONS
Have a great potential member? Concerned that someone is struggling to find their place? Contact the Membership Team and we can reach out. Email: membership@liveoakuu.org

Faith Development
Here's what you need to know this week!

This week our elementary classes begin a new unit on climate change in conjunction with the theme of our 7th UU principle. Middle school gathers for game day and high school holds their Hang Out Sunday.

Adults are invited to join Kiya Heartwood for a class on Universalism 101. That class begins at 10 AM in room 109. You might also consider reading more about the following Sundays, all part of our   UU 101 class.

New dates for the Undoing Racism Chalice Circle. Please read more about it on the Adult Learning page and sign up today.

Harmoni Anderson, our awesome childcare coordinator, is in need of volunteer help. We are actively searching for more childcare staff, but having difficulty filling the position. We are seeking parents of children in the nursery, or other adults in the congregation who will commit to taking a slot once a month. If you can give to the congregation in this way, please speak with me (Carrie Krause) or Harmoni. I would really like to give our staff a Sunday off occasionally.

2020 Camp UU Hogwarts Summer Camp
Registration opens Friday, February 28
From July 27th-31st, 2020, we continue the annual tradition of transforming First UU of Austin into a magical castle of fun and adventure. Students will have the opportunity to play Quidditch and Wizard Chess, as well as pursue studies of Herbology, Potions, Magical Creatures, and more! Most importantly we relate our UU values and traditions to the rich story of bravery and loyalty and love in the Harry Potter series our classes in Defense Against the Dark Arts and by learning about social justice and service in Muggle Studies. Registration will open Friday, February 28 for members of all Austin area UU churches and returning campers. Registration will open to the public on Friday, March 6, 2020. We welcome campers (rising 1st-6th grade), junior prefects (rising 7th-9th grade), and senior prefects (rising 10th-12th grades) for the full-day camp. Info here.
