Share the Plate:
Knowledge is Power; Share It!
Our September Share the Plate community partner is The Freedom to Read Foundation. FTRF is a non-profit legal and educational organization affiliated with the American Library Association that protects and defends the First Amendment to the Constitution and supports the right of libraries to collect - and individuals to access - information. All designated "share the plate" donations, and half of all undesignated donations, will be given to TFTR for the month of September.

Stewardship Pledge Campaign 2021
Plan your pledge for 2021
The LOUU Stewardship Pledge Campaign 2021 is upon us! Kickoff is this Sunday, September 13th. Look out for a letter in the mail and an email from your liaison.

Early pledgers have already committed over $44,000 for next year, which is around 20% of last year's total. Live Oak counts on annual pledges to create its budget for the coming year, and an annual pledge is also a requirement for active membership.

We look forward to getting everyone's pledges submitted in the next few weeks. Everyone who pledges during the campaign will get a goodie bag at the Stewardship Drive-Thru event on Sunday, October 4th! Mark your calendars!

VIRTUAL WOMEN'S STITCHING (and Spouting!) CIRCLE
Third Tuesdays of the month, September 15th, 7 - 8:30 pm
We're staying at home, but getting together via zoom, ready for show & tell and support again. What have you been working on? Or, if you're like me and haven't picked up a craft project since we last met in church, this is your chance to get motivated. I'll be there with my crochet hook! Look for the zoom link on the What's Happening page.

Calling Potential Readers!
Calling all readers! I'm going to need some readers over the next few months to record themselves for worship services. If you're willing (you can always decline if you're busy that week) to be considered, please let me know. And if you can't do video, but are willing to contribute an audio recording, let me know that.

I'll give you all the details about how to do it, so even if you're not sure about the tech part, if you're willing, let me know. We'll figure out that part together. If you can get on zoom, you can make a recording!

Send an email to:

Women's Labyrinth Group
Sunday, September 13, 6:30-9 pm
Please join us on Zoom for a sharing circle followed by a finger labyrinth walk. Ariadne, the Lady of the Labyrinth from ancient Crete, beckons us to the Center of the Labyrinth where we will find not the Minotaur but ourselves. The group is open to women high school age and older. The Zoom link will be sent via email for those who are on the email list for the Women's Labyrinth Group. If you need a copy of the Live Oak Labyrinth and/or the Zoom link, contact: Linda Webster.

Bookworms
The Live Oak Bookworms will meet on zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 pm. We will talk about THE TESTAMENTS by Margaret Atwood. This is a sequel to THE HANDMAIDS' TALE. Anyone interested, come and join us. 512-918-3276 for more information.

Fresh Food Friday
HELP DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS
Live Oak Church will be distributing food to our neighbors at Fresh Food Friday this week and need volunteers to help.

* Thursday, September 17th @ 1:00 p.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. food needs to be separated into smaller quantities for distribution. Meet at Hill Country Community Ministries, 1005 Lacy Dr, Leander, TX 78641
* Friday, September 18th @ 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Live Oak parking lot. This is when we distribute the food to our neighbors. Volunteers are needed to set up, direct people to the drive through area, collect client information, and place food in client's trunk. You do not need to remain the entire 2 & 1/2 hours.

HCCM asked for 7 people for each activity. We are asking you to please let us know if you will be able to participate in either activity, so we know if we have enough people.

To RSVP or for any questions please contact Donna Durbin at: HCCM@liveoakuu.org

Visit Live Oak's Online Sanctuary
Need a moment to catch your breath, to meditate, to be reminded of your faith values? Our "online sanctuary" is open 24-7. On this page, you'll find videos of music, meditations, and readings to soothe your soul. You can find the sanctuary by going to LiveOakUU.org-->Worship-->Online Sanctuary, or simply bookmark this link. New pieces will be added on a regular basis.

Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings go to http://www.liveoakuu.org/ and click on the link for the worship service. That will take you to our Youtube Premiere page. Gathering will begin at 9:45, and the service begins at 10:00 am.
After the service, go back to http://www.liveoakuu.org/ and click on the link to Fellowship Time. That will take you to a Zoom meeting room where we will gather in breakout rooms for a deeper discussion with a small group of members. (It's a great way to get to know other members.)

What's Happening This Week
Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link: http://www.liveoakuu.org/whats-happening-this-week/
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way. (But if you have a friend who might want to join, feel free to privately send them the link.)
