Share the Plate:
Share-the-Plate to Save Their Health
Our August Share the Plate community partner is Samaritan Health Ministries. This is a clinic for uninsured patients in Williamson and Travis Counties. They provide free or low-cost medical, dental, pharmaceutical, women's health and mental health services. All designated "share the plate" donations, and half of all undesignated donations, will be given to Samaritan Health Ministries for the month of August.

It's Going to be a Really Big Show!
The Talent Show is this Saturday, Aug 15 at 5 pm!
Tune into YouTube Premiere beginning at 4:45 on Saturday for some safe, physically distanced entertainment by and for our church community, no masks required. Here's the link. The link will be live beginning at 4:45 pm on Saturday and will be entertaining right off the bat, before the actual show even starts!
This show will be an embodiment of our Mission/Vision statement for both the performers and the audience! Embrace Joy; Enrich Connections; Encourage Growth; Empower Dreams. It's not going to be like any talent show you've seen before; it's going to be so much more! Interactive, intergenerational, fun and informative; you'll smile and laugh out loud, and maybe you'll shed a few tears. You'll see many familiar faces, young and old, and you'll see some new faces. You'll learn some things and you'll have a chance to see how much you already know.
You'll want to be sure you know how to use the chat feature before the show starts so you can fully participate and communicate with each other.
I've had a chance to preview the videos and I can't wait for you to see them, too!  Enjoy some entertainment along with your Saturday evening cocktails or supper.
Here's the link again. It'll go live at 4:45 pm on Saturday and right away you'll be able to chat before the show starts, just like with any live show!
If you're not going to be able to watch it then, you'll be able to watch it anytime after that, so hold on to the link!
The next meeting of the Live Oak Bookworms will take place on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:15 pm. Our text is I STILL DREAM ABOUT YOU by Fanny Flagg. This is light summer reading. At present, all our meetings are on Zoom. Everyone is welcome. Now may be the time to join our group if driving at night has been an issue for you or if you are new to the church. If you are not on our mailing list, call Hella at 512-918-3276 and she will send you the Zoom invitation. We will have to decide on books to read for the next few months. I hope for a good turnout.
First LOUU Lasagna Night Success!
We had over 20 households attending, laughing, and sharing a meal!
A huge THANK YOU to all who attended our first Zoom LOUU family dinner. It was great to see so many faces, and to just relax and share a meal together. Thank you. A very special shout out to Mary Hengstebeck for baking delicious bread for so many families, and Heather Malkawi for helping deliver the carb-y goodness!
For those who were disappointed to miss out, and those who enjoyed it and look forward to another rest assured that more is already in the works!
I can't speak for all, but my body was nourished and my soul renewed by the evening. Thank you, thank you!
  - Michele Olivier
Picnic Tables
Had you noticed that the picnic tables in the back of the church were looking dry, and sun bleached, the wood in danger of splitting? We all enjoy those tables and want them to be around for a long time, so something had to be done. Thanks to Becky and Ray McPherson the tables have a fresh coat of water sealant and now are looking great. When we can gather again around the tables we can thank Becky and Ray for their work at restoring them.

Add your words to fall Stewardship book!
The Stewardship Committee is putting together a book for our members and friends during this fall's campaign, and we'd like your words--just a couple of sentences or a paragraph--to inspire, reassure, and amuse readers.

Share your thoughts to one of the questions on the quick form (up to about 75 words). Feel free to answer more than one by submitting the form multiple times.
Zoom into Fun for All Ages Reading a Play
During these days and nights of COVID19, there are empty hours just waiting to be filled. What's an activity that requires some skill and preparation, but not too much, an activity that brings people together and evokes laughter? Reading a comedy of course, such as "The Red Velvet Cake War" by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten. The Everyday Relationships Women's Group, along with help from some friends, did a Zoom reading of this very funny play. The troupe spent quite a bit of time learning how to manage audio on a Zoom screen and video (by covering and uncovering our camera). It was like a finely tuned ballet. Well, maybe a square dance! Everyone agreed it was worth the effort. We recommend trying it with a group of friends when you're looking for something new to do. You can find plays for children - For adults, Dramatists Play Service,, has everything from comedy to tragedy, romance to bromance.

Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link:
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way.
