Becoming Trustworthy
Rev. Joanna Fontaine Crawford
Right now, our world needs people of character we can turn to, individuals we can trust to model better ways of living and to share factual information, whose honesty and integrity make them worthy of our trust.

Share the Plate
Help support a place of retreat for UUs.
Live Oak’s Share the Plate recipient for July is Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. They create healthier communities by providing comprehensive reproductive and related healthcare services, delivering science-based education programs, and serving as a strong advocate for reproductive justice in Texas. In 2020 Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas had 93,602 patient visits in Austin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Worth, Lubbock, Paris, Plano, Tyler, Waco, and surrounding communities
Support for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is needed now more than ever with legislators enacting 90 abortion restrictions across the country, including 12 abortion bans in states like Texas, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Montana and more. In May of this year Governor Greg Abbott signed into law Senate Bill 8, which seeks to ban all abortion in Texas after six weeks of pregnancy, well before many people know they're pregnant. With measures like these, Planned Parenthood's comprehensive health services are urgently needed in our state to keep promoting healthy and safe Texas citizens. Please visit their website for more information and to get to involved - Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, Inc.
To help support Planned Parenthood, go to the Donate link on the Live Oak website’s home page. Use the drop down menu to designate your donation for “Share the Plate”.

Mark your calendar right now for an all day Recovery and Healing Retreat, sponsored by the Healthy Community Team, on September 25. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for this guided retreat that will help us to process our experiences from the past year, heal as individuals and as a community, and look forward to the future. More details will come later, but we're hoping everyone can be there, so "save the date" now!

Live Oak UU Covid-19 Policy
Update for the Summer
For Live Oak members planning on using church grounds over the summer for meetings or gatherings the following is the Covid-19 policy:
Outside: Groups can gather without masks. Again please be cognizant of others with their comfort levels about social distancing and masks.
Inside (schedule with Administrator!):
- Groups ≤ 20 members in size can meet without masks as long as all members consent.
- Groups of more than 20 members should wear masks. Masks should be worn in common areas such as hallways or bathrooms as people may come into contact with others not necessarily in the meeting.
- Groups with children should always wear masks.
Again these are temporary restrictions over the summer, and we will continue to relax restrictions with updates from health authorities. Read more
