Share the Plate:
Share-the-Plate to Save Their Health
Our August Share the Plate community partner is Samaritan Health Ministries. This is a clinic for uninsured patients in Williamson and Travis Counties. They provide free or low-cost medical, dental, pharmaceutical, women's health and mental health services. All designated "share the plate" donations, and half of all undesignated donations, will be given to Samaritan Health Ministries for the month of August.
A Few Words from the Minister...

How to update your online donation from VANCO to Breeze
Changing your automated pledge contribution to our new church management system makes giving a breeze!
If you've struggled with donating money electronically to Live Oak, this news is for you.

Live Oak is saying goodbye to VANCO's complicated donation screens and adopting Breeze, which will make pledge and other church contributions easier. The assistant treasurers are asking all Live Oak contributors who use automatic contributions through VANCO to transition to Breeze as soon as possible.

How to make the change:
* Go to the VANCO payment page at
* Log in to see your existing automatic transactions.
* Follow the on-screen instructions to delete those transactions.
* Then go to the Breeze online contribution page at
* Go through the (much simpler) steps to set up your new contribution.

To avoid duplicating payments, you may want to cancel the VANCO transaction as soon as it runs one month, and add a reminder to your calendar to set up Breeze the following month.

What the neighbors say about us!
A neighbor made the following comment on "Thank you so much for the generous groceries today. Such a blessing ❤️❤️❤️"
This is from one of the 113 families who received an 18 pound box and two bags of fresh produce.  Live Oak members should feel good about our participation in the Fresh Food Friday distribution. Several regular volunteers were not able to help because of the start of school. And school starting may also be the reason there were a fewer families coming to pick up food.
Diane S-F made sure the neighbors learned we are here to help. She arranged for the announcement on our LED sign in front of the church.  Karen and Lydia packed the bags on Thursday at the HCCM distribution center. The Friday volunteers were Cindy, Vavara, Jon, Donna, and "runner" Mark. Mark also made a delivery to a person who was unable to pick up food.  The recipient posted on Facebook "What a blessing and thank you so much!" Everything went smoothly and no one had to wait more than three minutes to pick up their produce.
I am proud to be a member of a church that provides such an important service to our neighbors.

Give LOUU a "Lift"
LOUU elevator planning is well under way.  If you know of a grant opportunity to help us with the final funding, please fill out this form. The more outside funding we get, the less we need to deplete our reserve funds.
Needed: very short videos of you and your family!
I miss your faces, and I know I'm not the only one! Here's what I need for upcoming worship: short videos - like 1 minute - showing you/your family. (Live alone? I want a video from you, too!) No speaking necessary. Let me know if you're game! I'll email you with all the details.

The Talent Behind the Talent Show
Sue and I enjoyed every moment of the Live Oak Talent Show. The skits ranged from Jen and Julie's "Happy" tap dance performance to our President demonstrating the skillful art of fitted sheet folding. But these were just two of many exceptional demonstrations of talent. We loved being able to see Live Oak's talented children singing, dancing, and skating.
We should not miss the talent that went into the production of the show. Because I can't imagine all that was required to put on such a production, I asked Joel if he could explain just how he and his team did it.  Read his explanation.  Thanks to everyone who gave us the Talent Show!  It's still available to watch.

After the service, go back to and click on the link to Fellowship Time. That will take you to a Zoom meeting room where we will gather in breakout rooms for a deeper discussion with a small group of members. (It's a great way to get to know other members.)
What's Happening This Week
Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link:
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way. (But if you have a friend who might want to join, feel free to privately send them the link.)
