Share the Plate:
Knowledge is Power; Share It!
Our September Share the Plate community partner is The Freedom to Read Foundation. FTRF is a non-profit legal and educational organization affiliated with the American Library Association that protects and defends the First Amendment to the Constitution and supports the right of libraries to collect - and individuals to access - information. All designated "share the plate" donations, and half of all undesignated donations, will be given to TFTR for the month of September.

A Few Words from the Minister...
Groups of Live Oak
One of the things members have said they appreciate during this time are all the opportunities to connect with others. We have many groups to choose from, but especially if you're new to Live Oak, it may be difficult to differentiate between them. So here we go, the current Guide to Groups at Live

LO Endowment Committee seeking proposals for grants
The Live Oak UU Church Endowment Committee is soliciting proposals for grants for the year 2021. The deadline is September 30, 2020.

Did you submit a share the plate recipient? That organization may be eligible for an endowment grant!

The Endowment Committee is seeking applications from UU congregations, UU community organizations and organizations that uphold our UU values. Startup groups and community organizations must apply through a sponsoring UU church. Did you come from another UU church or have UU friends around the country - tell them! Help us spread the word.

Guidelines, past recipients and the grant application can be found on the Live Oak UU Church website.

The endowment fund is separate from our operating budget and does not consist of donations.
Questions? Contact endowment@liveoakuu.org.

Calling Potential Readers!
Calling all readers! I'm going to need some readers over the next few months to record themselves for worship services. If you're willing (you can always decline if you're busy that week) to be considered, please let me know. And if you can't do video, but are willing to contribute an audio recording, let me know that.

I'll give you all the details about how to do it, so even if you're not sure about the tech part, if you're willing, let me know. We'll figure out that part together. If you can get on zoom, you can make a recording!

Send an email to:
minister@liveoakuu.org

Visit Live Oak's Online Sanctuary
Need a moment to catch your breath, to meditate, to be reminded of your faith values? Our "online sanctuary" is open 24-7. On this page, you'll find videos of music, meditations, and readings to soothe your soul. You can find the sanctuary by going to LiveOakUU.org-->Worship-->Online Sanctuary, or simply bookmark this link. New pieces will be added on a regular basis.

Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings go to http://www.liveoakuu.org/ and click on the link for the worship service. That will take you to our Youtube Premiere page. Gathering will begin at 9:45, and the service begins at 10:00 am.
After the service, go back to http://www.liveoakuu.org/ and click on the link to Fellowship Time. That will take you to a Zoom meeting room where we will gather in breakout rooms for a deeper discussion with a small group of members. (It's a great way to get to know other members.)

What's Happening This Week
Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link: http://www.liveoakuu.org/whats-happening-this-week/
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way. (But if you have a friend who might want to join, feel free to privately send them the link.)
