Share the Plate
Vital support for families
We will share our plate in February with Any Baby Can, an organization that offers many services to strengthen Central Texas families and improve outcomes for children. Programs are wide-ranging: prenatal classes, parenting classes, support groups, early intervention services such as physical therapy or speech therapy, in-home visits, family health services and more. Any Baby Can also offers a range of volunteer opportunities if you want to get more involved in such important work.
Go to the Donate link on the Live Oak website’s home page. Use the drop down menu to designate your donation for “Share the Plate”.

Ambassadors Needed!
While I'm on sabbatical, I'd like to have a team of Live Oak members who will touch base on email with guest preachers, connect them with their worship leader, and meet them at Live Oak on Sunday. Can you help with this? Let me know!

This Week in Faith Development
Due to surge in Omicron cases, we have returned to outdoor worship, weather permitting. RE will be outdoors as well, with one worship service at 10 AM, followed by faith development classes at 11. We will continue to livestream worship services.
If we are only online for worship, there will be no classes during RE hour.
Calendar for February:
2/20: PreK: Principled Stories & Play
K-7th: Spirals & Labyrinths
HS: May Service Planning
Adult: Living Our Values: Relational Ethics
2/27: PreK: Principled Stories & Play
K-7th: Putting Together the Pieces
HS: Music as Resistance
Adult: Social Justice Ministry
At Home Faith Development
Online Faith Development for families to use at home is available at the beginning of each month. You can access previous family focus pages here.
We cannot have RE classes without volunteers to staff these classes. Please consider donating just one hour a month to our Religious Education program. Don't pass up a chance to get to know the amazing, thoughtful youth we have at Live Oak. Contact me at DLFD@liveoakuu.org.

What's a HoMe team and why should I be on one?
You don't have to try out, you don't have to athletic and there is no age limit.
HoMe teams provide Hospitality and Membership support each Sunday morning by welcoming visitors, preparing coffee, and passing offering baskets. You don't have to try out, you don't have to be athletic, and there is no age limit. If you can make a one Sunday per month commitment for March, April, and May, please contact Donna to join one of these amazing teams.

Member Connections
We’ll be featuring members who joined Live Oak during these many pandemic months in our newsletters. Welcome, Audrey.
New member Audrey McCann is working on the redesign of the church’s website and managing its upcoming launch.
Audrey is employed in branding and copywriting for GoDaddy and also is working on a certification in User Experience Design. A member of Live Oak’s Social Justice Ministry since before she became a member, Audrey is also busy planning “an initiative for reproductive justice here at the church.” And, she volunteers as a voter deputy registrar in two counties. Whew.
From a small farm town east of Dallas, she now lives in Austin with her best friend plus two cats and a dog. “I really love stationery, planning, crocheting, video games, reading, drawing and exercising,” Audrey said. “I'm seriously a huge nerd for all things planning and crafting.”
Audrey describes herself as “spiritually starving” in 2020. After a friend’s suggestion, she attended virtual services at UU churches in the area. She decided to become involved at Live Oak after seeing how the church responded to the disastrous February freeze of 2021. “Thanks, everyone, for the food and water!” she said.
Audrey recommends a sci-fi book she read during the pandemic, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. It “reimagines a world that's essentially an anarchist commune on a moon, where there is no such thing as money or ownership,” she said. “The protagonist … is offered a lucrative opportunity on the planet his moon orbits, and winds up learning about how money, greed, and classism have created a horrible world that's so different from his own.”

Labyrinth Kiosk Refurbished
The kiosk next to our labyrinth has had a facelift. It has long been forgotten and neglected but not anymore. Thanks to Becky and Ray McPherson and Tim Buckley the structure is sturdy and presenting Live Oak well to all who come to walk the labyrinth. The footings have been cemented into he ground, the roof has been re-done with lovely cedar shake shingles and the bulletin board has new cork with current and colorful information posted.
Thanks to our team of three for getting this needed project done.
Sue Buckley for the Buildings and Grounds Team.

Live Oak Church will be distributing food to our neighbors at Fresh Food Friday and need volunteers to help.
* Friday, February 18th @ 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Live Oak parking lot. This is when we distribute the food to our neighbors. Volunteers are needed to set up, direct people to the drive through area, collect client information, and place food in the client’s trunk. You do not need to remain the entire 2 & 1/2 hours.
HCCM has asked for 7 people for each activity. We are asking you to please let us know if you will be able to participate in either activity, so we know if we have enough or too many people.
