Share the Plate:
May's Share the Plate is going to UBarU, a Unitarian Universalist Camp
Retreat Center in the Hill Country near Kerrville, Texas.  Their mission is
to provide a welcoming, peaceful place to gather for spiritual, educa-tional, and recreational purposes in harmony with our Unitarian Universalist principles and the land.

Love Notes Recipient for May - Carrot Express Drivers
Every month, we recognize a group for all that they do and bring to the church.  For the month of May, we are recognizing the folks that volunteered to deliver Easter goodies to our kiddos.  Please write a love note to share what this meant to you and your family. Send those love notes to: lovenotes@liveoakuu.org.

A Few Words from the Music Director...
We Sing On, Remotely
The Live Oak choir, which normally takes a break in the summer, will be carrying on for as long as we are all staying away from large gatherings. We are continuing to produce "parts" songs and hymns, connecting for rehearsals through Zoom. We have an online Slack group, which gives us the ability to communicate, share music files and rehearsal recordings. If you are a singer and want to work with us from home, please let me know. It really is fun to sing together even when you can't hear each other! Especially during all this social deprivation.

Katherine Enyart is creating a Zoom "hang out" time with other choir members. This is just so we can see each other and talk. No practice is involved. Let me know if you need help accessing that.

Musicians who would like to help lead hymns from home can contact me to check out hymnals to keep with them at home.

If there is anything I can do to help any of you add your own music to our online services please email me! We are still collecting more versions of hymn #146- the more original, the better! Or make it plain- as long as we can see your face, we are happy!

Women's Labyrinth Group on Zoom
Sunday, May 17, 6:30-9 p.m
We gather for a sharing circle followed by a finger labyrinth walk. Please join us as we walk the twists and turns of our lives and support each other along the path-the path that "calls us from the center of who we are and who we long to be." The group is open to women high school age and older. The Zoom link with be sent via email for those who are on the email list for the Women's Labyrinth Group. If you need a copy of the Live Oak Labyrinth and/or the Zoom link, contact: Linda Webster

Zoom Update
The folks at Zoom have been hard at work to make Zoom more secure.  They have released an update that includes some security measures.  After 5/30, this update will happen automatically the first time you join a meeting.  It may take a few minutes, so you should plan to join a little early.  It is an option to do it ahead of time.  When you login, you'll see this:
Click on "now" and follow the instructions.

Touch Group for Grown-Ups
We're taking the Touch Group idea from our Unitarian Universalist youth and putting an adult twist on it. At youth rallies, touch groups give the youth an opportunity for deeper sharing with a small group of friends. We may not be kids anymore, but we still need opportunities for deeper sharing too. If this is something you want to try, please register for the next time we get together.

We meet online for 1 1/2 hours on the third Monday at 3:00 p.m. Our next meeting is  Monday, May 18.

Please register in advance for this meeting.  After you register, you will receive a confirmation with the information about how to join the group.
If you have questions, please contact me, Betty Skwarek, at  hskwarek@uuma.org or call me at 512-994-8748. And please don't get confused if your invitation says "Helen Skwarek."  That's my formal name.

I hope you can join us this month,
Betty

Tuesday Night Deep Dive
This regular 7:00pm Tuesday evening Zoom Deep Dive with Kiya is for those who need a deeper check-in and a supportive place to process.  The link can be found on the What's Happening This Week page.

Zoom!
We encourage you to connect with Zoom in various ways.

If you are planning a Zoom gathering for Live Oak members on your own Zoom account, please provide Diane with the date, time, link and title of the meeting. She will add it to the What's Happening page.

If you need a zoom meeting scheduled on the Live Oak account, send a request to Diane, and she will help you schedule it and provide the link.

What's Happening This Week
Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link:  http://www.liveoakuu.org/whats-happening-this-week/
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way. (But if you have a friend who might want to join, feel free to privately send them the link.)
