Principal's Message

Dear LO Families,

As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, I want to take a moment to highlight a couple of important upcoming events that I’m excited to share with you.

First, Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner from October 7-11. These meetings are such a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your child’s teacher, discuss their progress, and set goals together. Our teachers are eager to share the great things happening in the classroom and work with you to ensure every student reaches their full potential. If you haven’t already signed-up for a conference, please be sure to do so soon. Let’s make this year a successful partnership between home and school!

Also, don’t forget that this Friday, Sept. 27th is Movie Night! We’ll be showing 'Kung Fu Panda 4' under the stars, so bring your blankets, chairs, and some popcorn for a fun night with family and friends. This is a great chance for our community to come together, and I look forward to seeing you all there! The event starts at 6:30 and an RSVP is required, although the event is free.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making our school such a special place for our students.

Warmly,

Mr. Fong

Principal

PTA Updates

Measure Q

Live Oak PTA and Ed fund requests your attention and support for Measure Q.

What is Measure Q?

The Measure on the November ballot will continue existing funding for our public schools, with no new taxes. It is a renewal of an already existing voter-approved parcel tax of $144/year or $12/month that supports our schools, specifically our teachers and academic programs. If approved by voters this November, Measure Q would prevent a $6.8 million loss in annual revenue and resulting cuts at our local schools. This Measure helps to retain and attract excellent teachers and protect quality education for all SRVUSD students - without increasing taxes.

The Live Oak Education Fund and PTA have endorsed Measure Q. The measure requires a 2/3 majority vote in order to pass.

How can you support Measure Q?

1. Help spread the word among family and friends, and vote YES for Measure Q.

2. Show your support with a lawn sign.

3. Volunteer to canvas in our neighborhoods over the next two months (Sept-Oct) to increase awareness and voter support for Measure Q. We need your support! If you would like to volunteer on our site team, please register here!

4. Donate to the campaign

For more info about Measure Q, visit: https://www.qualitysrvschools.com/

Thank you for your support!

Thank you Live Oak families!

Thank you for joining the Ice Cream Social and Association Meeting last week. It was wonderful to have so many families come together! Our little friends loved trying different varieties of Ice cream sundaes. Our Principal Mr. Fong shared the CAASSP scores. PTA shared a detailed presentation on the importance of Measure Q and how it benefits our schools. Our community is now gearing up to participate in Destination Imagination (DI) and First Lego League (FLL).

For those who missed the event, here are the DI and FLL presentations.

*A shout out to Harsimran Singh and Madhvi Owen for leading the event. We thank PTA leadership team and volunteers for making this event a grand success.

Spirit Wear

Kids will be bringing the spirit wear home this week that was purchased during registration.

*Thanks to our chair Shalini Kosgi, PTA leadership and volunteers for carefully categorizing and packaging the gear and getting them delivered earlier than planned.

September Birthdays

We wish a very happy birthday to our September champs!

Unfortunately, we were unable to display birthday shout-outs this month due to issues with the school's marquee. Until the school works on fixing it, PTA will showcase all birthdays in its newsletter.

*You would be able to see birthdays displayed on the marquee (or in PTA newsletter) if you made a request during registration. No new requests are being accepted by the school at this time.

Picture Day

Please bookmark this link to order photographs taken during LO 'Picture Day' on Sept 24. Additional info will be shared in the next couple of weeks.

*Thanks to all volunteers who helped with 'Picture Day'!

Know your Volunteers!

Meet Kusum, our community night out chair. She organizes community night outs by selecting various local businesses and sharing with our Live Oak community in order to raise funds for the various PTA programs!

Last week some members of Girl Scout Troop 31609 met up at Dos Coyotes for dinner and to fundraise for Live Oak!

What a wonderful idea bringing the team together for a great cause.

Go team Live Oak! Look out for future community dine out updates in the newsletters!
