Message from the President
My name is Shipra Butail, and I have lived in San Ramon for the last six months with my husband and our two kids, who are in 5th and 3rd grade at Live Oak Elementary. I come from a family deeply rooted in community service and see this role as a chance to give back to the community.
Professionally, I work in as a coaching leader, training Project Managers and helping teams adopt better ways of working. I also own a local business, which has been a great experience in entrepreneurship and time management.
I am excited to collaborate with all of you to make this school year meaningful and engaging for our kids!
Regards,
Shipra

A big thank you to the teachers and staff who helped in selecting the winning entries. 🎃 Pumpkin Patch Fun!
We had such a wonderful time at our Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday, October 29th! Thank you to Jennifer Lui for organizing this special event. Each class got to visit our festive fall setup in the quad and pick out their very own pumpkin to take home.
Pumpkins were purchased from Windmill Farms, who also kindly lent us hay bales to help create our cozy autumn scene.
We’re so grateful to our fantastic volunteers — Shwetha Narayanan, Therese Kathka, Shawn Kathka, Lamba Haschemi, Cary Chan, Madhvi Owen, Sanju Bhattarai, Amisha Rai, Sandhya Menon, Priyanka Duvvuru, Shipra Butail, and Pam Sokukawa— for helping make the day such a success.
Special appreciation to our amazing school team — Mr. Shui, Mr. Fong, Helen Burrows, Monica Richard, and Joel Lopez — for their help and support in bringing this fall favorite to life. 🍂

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week was a fantastic reminder for our students to embrace "Healthy Choices." Throughout the week, students had the chance to dress up and show their commitment to these positive habits.
The event was a great success! Congratulations to Mrs. Samra’s third grade class for bringing home the trophy!
Live Oak students from Pack 997 also helped tie ribbons around the campus as a reminder to stay safe and care for both body and mind. They also took part in a campus clean-up around the Live Oak grounds demonstrating their commitment to community service.

Cardboard Challenge
On Wednesday, October 29, our students participated in our annual Cardboard Challenge, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and imagination! This year’s theme was “The Wonderful World of Color.” Students designed and built their very own games out of cardboard, decorating them in bright, colorful ways to match the theme. After completing their creations, everyone had the chance to explore, play, and enjoy each other’s games for 30 minutes. Some of the exciting projects included Plinko boards, basketball tosses, trivia challenges, marble launchers, and even cannonball games aimed at cardboard boats! It was such a joyful and hands-on way to celebrate problem-solving, teamwork, and the power of imagination.
