Student Council Updates

So we have a bad news/good news situation with our Food Drive! Sadly, the Food Bank will not be able to pick up the barrels until next Tuesday! So that’s the GOOD news! We have more time for donations; if you forgot, it’s not too late until Tuesday!

Upcoming Special Spirit Wear Days:

Wednesday, December 17 is Culture Day!
Wednesday, January 28 is Pajama Day!

We will not have a December meeting, but will join together for an activity! Third-Fifth grade Student Council members are invited to make cards for seniors on December 10. We will meet in the library at lunch time, and craft! They may bring a friend or two, as we work to bring others a bit of joy this holiday season!

PTA Updates

Staff Holiday Luncheon

Holiday season is here and the Live Oak PTA is planning a Holiday Luncheon for our wonderful teachers and staff of Live Oak in December (exact date TBD).

Like previous years, this year too, we plan to get the food catered from one of their favorite restaurants. To help us make these arrangements we ask you to kindly make a small donation in place of bringing a hot meal or food item. We are hoping to reach our goal of $2000 for approximately 100 staff members by 12/10/2025.

Please consider donating to help cover the cost of the luncheon. We are at $1000 of our goal of $2000 to reach by December 10th.

Reflections

School level Judging for this year’s Reflections Program 2025 is complete. We’re excited to announce our winners across all categories, and our Awards of Excellence recipients and all participants will be recognized on December 12 in their respective classrooms.

These Award of Excellence entries will move on to the Council level, with the next round of judging scheduled for January 2026.

Open PTA Positions

We are looking to fill the following positions

VP of Programs. This role is very fun, dynamic and perfect for someone who loves to plan events. The VP of Programs would work with committee and other Chairs to plan and organize programs for the school year.

Communications Chair (Shadow) - This is an essential position for our school community and a wonderful opportunity for personal and professional growth.The role includes, Updating the PTA calendar and website, Curating and sending out our biweekly newsletters and Helping keep families informed, connected, and engagedShadowing this year's chair now will give you ample time to learn the systems, tools, and workflow at a comfortable pace, ensuring you feel confident and fully prepared when you take on the role. Sister School Toy Drive

When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world-Harold Kushner.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community for their incredible generosity this holiday season.

A huge thank you to all of the families that participated in the toy drive! It was a total success! We were able to donate over 85 gifts to Michelle Obama Elementary School, our Sister School! We want to express our deepest appreciation to the Student Council, PTA, representatives from Cal High, and every member of our community.

Also, just a reminder that the food drive is still in effect until next Tuesday! We are still accepting donations.

Yearbook

Work has begun on creating the 2025-2026 Yearbook, If you need to order a book you can directly from Treering, You can also start adding pictures in the folders and creating your FREE custom pages, instructions can be found here https://www.liveoakpta.net/fundraiser/yearbook

Event Highlights from the last few weeks

Fall Run Club

We wrapped up a Fantastic Run Club Fall Season just before the thanksgiving break! We have officially crossed the finish line!!!!!

We want to send a massive thank you to every single participant who laced up their sneakers this season. From our energetic TK students to our determined 5th graders, your enthusiasm was truly inspiring.

Our 19 participants put in an incredible effort, completing a grand total of 364 laps—that's an impressive 72.8 miles run collectively! We also want to recognize our top three distance runners who could clock their laps consistently: Ikshan R, Wyatt K, and Jacob R.

A special shout-out goes to the parents and guardians—thank you for the early drop-offs and for the unwavering support. Finally, to our volunteers and staff: this event would not have been possible without your help. Thank you for making this season a runaway success!

We wish the participants all the best, and hope all can join us next season.
