Homework can sometimes feel like a chore, but with the right support, it can be a valuable opportunity for your child to reinforce what they’ve learned in school and develop important skills. Here are some simple strategies to help make homework time more productive and stress-free:
- Create a Routine: Establish a regular homework routine that works for your family. Set a consistent time each day for your child to work on their assignments. This helps create a habit and reduces procrastination.
- Designate a Study Space: Set up a quiet, well-lit area where your child can focus on their homework. Make sure the space is free from distractions, such as TV or noisy siblings.
- Be Supportive, Not Overbearing: Encourage your child to tackle their homework independently, but let them know you’re available if they need help. Try asking guiding questions rather than giving answers, which fosters problem-solving skills.
- Stay Positive: Encourage a positive attitude towards homework. Celebrate effort and progress, not just perfection. If your child is frustrated, take a short break and return to the task with a fresh perspective.
- Communicate with Teachers: If your child is consistently struggling with homework, don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher. Together, you can find ways to make homework more manageable and ensure it’s a positive learning experience.
Remember, homework is just one part of your child’s educational journey. Your support and encouragement can make a big difference in helping them succeed both in school and beyond!

Movie Night - Friday, Nov 14, 2025
At last week’s association meeting, we proposed a new date for Movie Night: Friday, November 14, 2025 (pending a chair to lead the event).
Movie Night has always been a beloved school tradition, and we’d love to bring it back! To make that happen, we need parent volunteers to help organize. No experience is required—the PTA team will provide all the details, guidance, and support you need. If you’re interested in helping revive Movie Night or have any questions, please email us at liveoakpta@gmail.com.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community strong!

On September 17, Live Oak Elementary’s PTA hosted a delightful Ice Cream Social in partnership with Baskin-Robbins. Families enjoyed three delicious flavors of ice cream with a variety of fun toppings including gummy bears, sprinkles, chocolate, and caramel syrup.
The event was perfectly timed for a hot day, and it was heartwarming to see smiles on the faces of both kids and parents. This was our first time partnering with Baskin-Robbins, and it was a wonderful success!
Some fun numbers: 140 ice cream cups were served, totaling 21 lbs of ice cream (including dairy-free options), enjoyed by students, parents, teachers, and staff.
A big thank you to our volunteers Suchita Ghosh, Shipra Butail, Madhvi Owen, Joanne Lucero, Jeanna Ayedelotte, Rajesh Padiyal and everyone who joined us in making this event such a great turnout.
