In September, 50% of cash and all designated money will be donated to
Texas Gun Sense. Thi s organization advocates for common sense,
evidence-based policies to reduce gun in juries and deaths.
From their webiste: 'We use "gun sense" because we recognize citizens' right to own guns, but also believe our laws could be strengthened to include more sensible policies that would protect the general public from avoidable accidents and injuries from guns.'

Love Notes
Each month, there will be a different group at Live Oak featured in our "Love Notes" appreciation program. You're encouraged to grab one of those pink sheets and let the group know how much you appreciate what they contribute to Live Oak life.  September love notes will be for our Soundboard team.  please be sure to stop by the Love Notes box and show your love!

Bring Your Gift to the Altar
There will be a small altar in front of the chancel every Sunday, where anyone can add an object. We already have some shells and stones, but we'd love to have small figurines (say, a religious figure, an animal, etc) that people can also choose from.
Do you have an item to contribute? The item will stay at Live Oak, so this is a gift to the church. If so, bring it Sunday!

HELP DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS
Live Oak Church will be distributing food to our neighbors.

Please volunteer to help with the following tasks:
* Thursday, September, 19th @ 1:00 p.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. food needs to be separated into smaller quantities for distribution. Meet at Hill Country Community Ministries, 1005 Lacy Dr, Leander, TX 78641
* Friday, September 20th @ 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Live Oak parking lot. This is when we distribute the food to our neighbors. Volunteers are needed to set up and take down the tables, help with the selection of food, and help carry food to our neighbors cars. You do not need to remain the entire 2 & 1/2 hours.

Your help is needed! Any questions please contact Donna Durbin at: HCCM@liveoakuu.org

THE CUPBOARD IS BARE

Faith Development
Here's what you need to know this week!

If you have a youth in 8th grade and up, the deadline for registering for the Coming of Age retreat is midnight, Sunday, 9/15. Please consider this opportunity for your youth. You can read more about it here.

Please register if you haven't already done so. A procedure change to note this year: elementary children will no longer sign in downstairs. Parents should sign them in at the classroom upstairs, preferably by 10:05, which is when class will begin. If you arrive late, please enter quietly as we will begin opening circle on time to allow more class time in our studios. Sign out is upstairs at the same classroom by 10:55.

Middle School and High School start the year out with welcoming and ice-breaker games. Every year as people come in there is a need for the group to re-form. The presence of youth is vital during the first few weeks if that is to happen, so encourage them to attend and help shape the youth groups for the year!

Our adult programming will begin on September 22nd. For information about upcoming classes, please visit the Learning pages of the website.

Please consider how you can help in faith development across the ages this year by contacting Carrie Krause. Let's grow our base of adults sharing the journey with our children, youth, and adults. Many hands make light work and allow for a richer experience for all involved.
