Webinar: 2025 Texas 89th Legislature Wrap-Up – Grid Reliability, Energy Efficiency, & Legislative Outlook

The 89th Texas Legislative Session addressed some of the most pressing energy challenges facing the state—from grid reliability to energy affordability. This webinar, presented by SPEER, offers a comprehensive review of key legislation and policy trends impacting Texas’ electric grid, energy efficiency programs, distributed energy resources (DERs) and other demand-side resources.


Attendees will gain insight into major bills such as SB 6, the continued implementation of the Texas Energy Fund, and legislative efforts related to renewables, workforce development, and building codes. Learn how the session’s outcomes may shape regulatory priorities, customer costs, and energy strategies ahead of the 90th Legislature as we Identify and analyze the most impactful energy-related legislation from the 89th Texas Legislature.

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Notice for Comment: Adoption of Energy Efficiency Standards for New Construction of HUD and USDA-Financed Housing

HUD and USDA published a Final Determination on April 26, 2024, adopting the 2021 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2019 energy codes as minimum requirements for programs covered under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The Final Determination found that adoption of the energy codes would have no negative impact on the affordability and availability of EISA-covered housing. The agencies plan to review the analysis contained in the Final Determination and are seeking public comments to inform the review.


Comment Period ends on Aug 6 at 2025 at 11:59 PM EDT.
