Thank you for your interest in the work of LifeNets that has helped thousands of people in the past 20 years. We appreciate your support and prayers.  We thank all the people in the areas we distribute aid for faithfully fulfilling our donor's desires.  We are v ery grateful for a fine conclusion to fiscal year 2016.  I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on some of the activities of LifeNets since our last newsletter at the end of December. 
 
You might remember our communication asking support for friends in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe due to serious drought conditions that lasted more than two years. Because so many are dependent on the land in their subsistence lifestyle, they were in need of support. Thanks to so many of you, we were able to help with food, then again with seed and fertilizer.






Planting season for that part of the world begins around October to November or as soon as the rains begin to soften the ground so that it can be worked. We asked for prayers that the rains would come to produce an abundant crop. Up to this last week all the reports were good. The corn looked great! Then on February 10th in central Malawi it rained all night and continued to rain hard the next day. For some areas this was too much.  Other areas are doing fine, but we need God's continual blessing of rain in due season and in appropriate amounts. The drought is over but proper rains are so important to complete the growing season and provide food for many who live off the land.   

Helping in the Congo

We will be helping with an orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo close to the Zambian border.  We have had the caretaker of the orphans come over the border to our church services and would like help from us.  We have agreed to help them with raising poultry, mealie meal for the children and construction help for a meeting facility for church and classroom. My husband and I will be meeting with some of these people in April on the Zambia side and look forward to helping relieve hardship in this very unstable area of the world.

Hello once again,  Am glad to say hi this afternoon I know it has been a busy week on your side but hope everything is OK. I would like to say a big thank you to LifeNets for considering my case and buying me a new sewing machine. Those are some of the pictures of my new machine inside the shop I work. I am very happy to have my children with me in peace. I shall now look for a two bed roomed house so that we may all fit in (after the business has picked up).  Thank you very much be blessed all.

The new LifeNets website was launched on February 8, 2017. Our original Website has been up and running since 1999. It has done a fine job communicating to everyone about what we do and who we are.

The new upgrade makes our site mobile-friendly and more contemporary in appearance. All previous content is still available and can be viewed in our previous mode at  http://lifenets.org/index.html.

The new site will make it easier for us to manage and update. Thank you for following us over the years. We hope that you will enjoy our new Website! The photo was taken as Victor is launching the new website.

We have posted hundreds of happy stories about people who have been richly helped in accordance with our Mission Statement which is:

"LifeNets is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that develops programs offering practical assistance that promote the well-being and self-sufficiency of disadvantaged people throughout the world and, where possible, encourages them to pass on their LifeNets benefit to others."

Elom
Elom is a 2nd year student of pharmacology, in the University of Euromed, in Dakar, Senegal. She writes: 
 
"It was with a great joy and surprise that I have received your decision to help with my college housing fees for this year. I am in my second year of Pharmacy education at the University of Dakar (Euromed). My dad did not hide from me his financial difficulties given that he had to retire. I know that nothing will be like before. That's why your help is for me like a help from heaven. I will endeavor to use is as a faithful steward.

How to Effortlessly Double Your LifeNets Donation

Many companies will match their employees' and retirees' charitable contributions. Check with your personnel office to see if your company will do so. They will provide the necessary forms and instructions. Then send LifeNets the completed form. Thank you very much! Donations to LifeNets are tax-deductible in the United States.   
2016 Youth Card Project Program Report

Keith Lippincott, organizer of the Youth Card Project talks to us about how this project began in Australia in 2011 when a group of young people decided to raise money to support projects in developing countries.

Over the course of six years the project has expanded, and in 2016 greeting cards designed by United Church of God members and were sold at US Festival sites in Bend, Oregon, Panama City Beach, Florida, Oceanside, California and Gatlinburg, Tennessee and at  sites in Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand. A total of US$6800 (AU$8872) was raised, all of which went towards supporting the LifeNets Developing Nations Scholarship Fund. This fund has provided educational scholarships to individuals in Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Philippines.

  In talking with project organizer Keith Lippincott, he told us the following:
 
                                Keith Lippincott.
"A few years ago Alex Love asked if I would be interested in organizing card sales in the US for the Youth Card Project. It is a daunting task which involves collecting artwork to go on the cards, sending announcements, finding a company to print the cards, and finding volunteers. 

"I soon found such a task is not possible alone. I learned I may work, all of the project volunteers may work, but it is God who makes it work out. It is nothing short of a miracle to see a print shop send a bid with the lowest price at the very last minute. 

"This year, the project had the most success it ever had. We had the lowest costs, most card sales and most people involved of any year. It is inspiring to see how God is working through this project to make a positive difference in the world."
Keith commented that 2016 was one of our best years for sales and the first time that young people worked all the Festival sites in sales.  Keith organized the art work and collections in the USA and coordinated the announcements.
