When asked about the film, IUP theater faculty member and the production's director Rob Gretta explained, "I enjoyed the movie, and one can definitely appreciate it as a film. Pittsburgh Symphony Set for Monday, April 20
|
This time, we feel confident that snow will not delay the April 20 concert that was set when we were forced to cancel the February 21 concert due to weather. The April 20 concert, starting at 8:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium on Monday will be under the baton of Maestro Manfred Honeck and includes selections from the Swan Lake Suite plus the ever-popular Pathetique Symphony, both by Tchaikovsky, and a special treatment of the Rusalka Fantasy by Dvorak. If you still have tickets from February 21 and will be joining us, those tickets remain good for April 20. The deadline for requesting a refund has passed as of April 1.

And, if you provide your name and contact information, you will be entered into a random drawing to receive one free subscription to the Ovations! season next year, a value of over $400.
Which Ballet? Survey
Season Headliners
Second, invite you to make some guesses on what we are planning for next season. We have to wait until all contracts and fiscal matters are in order before we announce, but have listed some headlines on this survey that will provide hints. Fair warning , though: It's not easy. People with the most correct answers will be entered into a random drawing to receive one free subscription to the Ovations! season next year.

Parking and Access
Some Construction Continues, Parking Still Free
|
The new Crimson Caf?, right between the library and Cogswell Hall and adjacent to the Performing Arts Center, is now open and repaving on 11th street is complete. In fact, why not stop in the Caf? before or after the performance for some coffee, dessert, or a full meal?
Access to Fisher Auditorium from the Parking Garage is now much easier. Instead of walking along 11th Street as you had to do during the construction, just walk between the Crimson Caf? and the library, and you will have a direct route to the front entrance of Fisher Auditorium. That is also the best wheelchair accessible route.
Drop Off Crossing/Ovations! Events in Fisher Auditorium: As we started last spring, persons in wheelchairs or needing alternate access to Fisher Auditorium can stop along Oakland Avenue on the Oak Grove side near Copies Plus. An IUP police officer and an usher will be stationed there for any Ovations! event in Fisher Auditorium to assist with traffic and questions. They will be on hand from starting 1 hour before the Ovations! series Fisher event performances and 30 minutes following the show. After persons are dropped off, the driver can then park in one of the various lots in the immediate area.
Another more direct area for drop off and one that we will be utilizing more in the future is right at the Crimson Cafe?on 11th Street. Access for wheelchairs is approximately the same distance as the Oakland Avenue drop off and much less of an incline. We suggest trying it out.
Always Free Parking: And the Parking Garage is always available and free anytime after 5 p.m. on weekdays and anytime on weekends. All spaces throughout the garage at these times are available except for spaces marked for "24 hours." Ample spaces are also available on each level in the Parking Garage for those persons with a valid handicapped license or placard.
We never charge for our parking.

Going Live! Get Back to Reality As we celebrate 25 years of the Lively Arts what better way to acknowledge that than "to go live at 25!" See a show with your neighbors, make a new friend with the person next to you, talk about it afterwards at a local lounge or restaurant, sit a spell in front of a painting or sculpture, and share the emotion only a live performance can provide. You deserve it. Get back to reality and experience it live. Come to the Lively Arts! |
