Jacki and his wife are taking medication to manage their hepatitis B and have started a Taiwanese hepatitis B patient group. Today, all of their kids are hepatitis-free, and Jacki’s brother is cured of liver cancer!

This pilot program demonstrates the long-term benefits of CHB therapy in a resource-limited setting. This five-year study includes 1,303 patients. The high mortality in patients with cirrhosis underscores the need for earlier detection of CHB and timely initiation of antiviral treatment in sub-Saharan Africa.
New public health staffer at the Hepatitis B Foundation
Our newest public health program coordinator, Holly Moore, says that she always has had a passion for health and a desire to serve those communities with the most need, which led me to pursue education in the field of public health.
She completed a bachelor's in Public Health from University of Texas at Austin in May 2020 and an MPH specializing in Community Health from Arcadia University last August.
| |
|
During and after her undergraduate years, she completed medical service trips in Guatemala and Nicaragua and worked as a medical assistant at a specialty clinic in Austin, Texas.
"This helped me understand the medical needs of diverse groups of patients and the inner workings of the health industry," Holly says. "Most recently, I completed an internship with Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership working in community outreach to identify and address community health needs. These experiences have highlighted the importance of integrating social determinants of health and community members themselves in every possible aspect of healthcare.
"My long-term goals as a health professional include completing more graduate education to become a Physician Assistant and provide medical care to the most vulnerable populations. Ultimately, I hope to develop a nonprofit organization to create community health centers that address multi-disciplinary health needs in one easily accessible location.
"I am incredibly excited to work with the Hepatitis B Foundation specifically to support, educate and empower those living with Hepatitis B," Holly said.
